Isn't it the expansion of NATO that's he main cause of strife?

That's pretty much it from the Russian perspective; the Western perspective is that Russian incursion is the main cause of strife.

The important thing to remember is that, whichever side you're on, the other side are imperialist aggressors and our side are defenders of freedom.

Ukraine isn't in the EU, mate, so your point doesn't make any sense

I know, Ursula has been fluttering her eyelashes towards the Ukraine for a while, must be the country's right wing thugs that catches her eye, plus the ready supply of hand guns and small armaments.

in seriousness Nato, the Yanks and the EU have been causing unrest and laying claims to Ukraine for years and its obvious the Russia and Putin are not going to stand back and let that happen. Imagine if Russia sent troops on Americas border in Canada, would America turn a blind eye? Like Cuba in the sixties..

Back on the subject matter of the EU, I've never agreed with the eu expansion into the East at all. I'd pay Russia to keep places like Ukraine etc under their control tbh, Ursula and the EU should sort out a few problems in her own jurisdiction and leave the East alone.

What happened to all these supa dupa eu union regulations? The EU slave labour trade is as healthy as ever.

https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2022/jan/25/workers-paid-less-than-minimum-wage-to-pick-berries-allegedly-sold-in-uk-supermarkets

As the article says, the workers are from South Asia and "appear to have been working illegally long hours".

Because they don't have citizenship rights, they are easier to exploit. Portuguese or any other EU citizens in that situation would have found it much easier to organise or to report their exploitative bosses.

EU membership means that if you're a citizen of one Member State, you have equal rights as citizens of any other Member State you choose to live and work in.

Some of us think that it's good when workers have more rights and that the 2016 vote to reduce rights for both EU workers (who lost their citizenship rights in the UK) and UK workers (who lost their citizenship rights in 26 other countries) was a bad thing.

In short; the EU rules are not easy to bypass. At least most  fruit and veg pickers in this country have got a well deserved pay rise for their labour, same goes for many other low paid workers, good for them, even though those workers receive little support on this thread.

It was always about "Taking back control" and giving it to the right wing of the Tory Party.

It can be about what ever the sitting British government choose, a government elected by the British people, you're confusing government choices with the act of leaving the European Union. Its not compulsory for us do the things you highlight.

Edit; anyway this mad Nato/EU push to the east is bringing lots of peace and love I see.

You can't seriously still be clinging on to the Lexit fantasy, can you?  Brexit was only ever going to benefit the right wing of the Tory Party and they're doing with their new powers exactly what you would expect them to do.

As for your daft, diversionary addendum, accepting countries who want to join and meet the criteria is not a "push to the East".  And the EU offers no military threat to Russia: NATO does. Ukraine is not even a candidate for EU membership.

Ursula is certainly not shy offering bundles of European citizens cash to a country not in the EU and bordering Russia, wonder why?

She's been up to dubious dealings again i see, shes as big a crook as Johnson, they went to the same school in Brussels and it shows, rich, entitled and no thought for anyone not in the top ten per cent of society.

The obvious answer would be that Ukraine borders four EU Member States. Instability there is very likely to cause problems for those countries.
