At the forthcoming election why should a potential labour voter living in a block of flats in a run down estate in a marginal seat give two fucks about the EUs recruitment of English teachers?

They should give a toss as that's opportunities taken away from those very people to escape their rundown surrounds you dumb cunt.

I often wonder about Gnosher if there’s a day coming, sometime after his eighth double Turps and tonic of the evening, where the world just comes crashing down around him and he silently mouths the word ‘fuck’ as he slowly realises that despite all his protestation, all his ‘research’ through Twitter that actually he’s been fucked over like the rest of us and no amount of hand waving, quiescence in reality, or skewed statistics will allow his cognitive dissonance to go in to bat for this one anymore.

Or, maybe he is just the frog in the pan.

Then I remember I really don’t fucking care and watch him being roundly humiliated every day on here for his absolute lack of wherewithal and go back to my day.

Nice deflection.

There was a time that working class people could get a decent chance to see a bit of the world, working anywhere in Europe. But 51.9% of the electorate sacked that off for a busful of lies.

I agree, I didn't intend to be flippant it's just overseas English teachers are not at the top of the list when it comes to having your nuts squeezed.

OK.

I suggested that the current raft of shortages (the ones that started a few weeks ago and will continue at least for a few months) will impact people who work in retail. Your "evidence" that shopworkers have got nothing to worry about is

1.  There were significantly more vacancies in July-September 2021 than there were in July-September 2020, when things were still barely open.

2. Wages are higher in 2021 than in 2020, when staff were furloughed.

There really is no reason to imagine that these Covid effects will continue - or that bosses will pay staff when there's nowt on the shelves.

Not in retail it doesn't, because retail was never as dependent on migrants as other sectors.

It does, second paragraph down. Anyway you should be happy to know my links have proven your original concerns have been unfounded as both retail wages and vacancies are in good health.

Well, well, well...

'A damning new report on trafficking in the UK has warned that Brexit and the Home Office’s new plan for immigration are increasing the risks to trafficking victims.

The report has also found links between terrorism and trafficking in cases involving families from the UK ending up with Islamic State in Syria and an increase in the recruitment of trafficking victims via social media.

Thousands of potential trafficking victims held in immigration centres, data shows

The influential Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (Greta), part of the 47-nation Council of Europe, monitors the implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, which came into force in the UK in April 2009.

The number of possible victims of trafficking referred to the UK’s national referral mechanism (NRM) has grown tenfold, from 1,182 in 2012 to 10,627 in 2019. The number of referrals in 2020 was 10,613.

The proportion of male victims referred to the NRM has increased over the years: of the possible victims in 2019, 68% (7,224) were male and 32% (3,391) were female. In 2019, possible victims of 125 different nationalities were referred to the NRM. The largest number of referrals were for UK nationals, accounting for 27% of the total, followed by Albania, Vietnam, China and India.

...

The Greta report states that “Brexit has heightened the risk of exploitation for EU workers” and warns that victims of slavery may have difficulty applying for the EU settlement scheme.

It adds: “Frontline and migrant organisations have noted that the offence of illegal working, part of the UK’s hostile environment for undocumented migrants, acts as a major driver of exploitation and a barrier to justice.'

The dangers have already been flagged on the winter of discontent thread you numpty.

We are indeed in danger of going from a legitimised form of slave labour through the movement of people though the EU to an underground movement of low paid slave labour as previously seen in the Leicestershire garment industry. No doubts it's worrying, very worrying.

As I've said in the other thread this should be another open goal for the Labour Party, a chance to turn the low pay, no rights immigration issue on its head and lay it firmly at the government’s door.

Shit got real.  The middle classes are going to go mental about this…I’m at Centre Parcs and Brexit has caused a shortage of arrows and the archery classes are being restricted. You heard it here first.

We just never stop winning, do we?

'Since our first post-EU referendum [report] in November 2016, our forecasts have assumed that total UK imports and exports will eventually both be 15 per cent lower than had we stayed in the EU. This reduction in trade intensity drives the 4 per cent reduction in long-run potential productivity we assume will eventually result from our departure from the EU ...

UK-EU goods trade volumes fell sharply after the TCA came into effect, and remain below their pre-Brexit (and pre-pandemic) levels in 2019. Chart E shows that UK goods exports to the EU fell by 45 per cent in January of this year (greater than their fall early in the pandemic) and in August were still down around 15 per cent on the level before the transition period ended. UK goods imports from the EU also fell by over 30 per cent at the start of the year and were still down around 20 per cent in August compared to December 2020. While goods trade with the rest of the world experienced similarly sharp falls at the start of the pandemic, in August it had recovered to 7 per cent below average 2019 levels whereas total goods trade with the EU remained down 15 per cent.'

The binary thought of one bad so the other must be good at play here? Of course some may veiw Macron/Von der Leyen as the fluffy cuddly types, same as how some tory supporters view Johnson.

Reads letter, mimics the presenter of jazz club on the fast show smoking a one skin saying  "nice"

By way of coincidence our tory  prime minister and the head of the EU Von der Leyen both went to the same school, obviously before Johnsons Eton days. What were the odds on that? The answer is not that high when you delve into the pupils that attended, and a bigger bunch of brats it would be hard to find, never mind plunk in one building.

The school in question was the Brussels school (what else) and is only open to children of EU officials (what a surprise). As well as Von der Leyen and various other entitled sprogs Johnsons siblings were also part of a distinguished Alumni.

I imagine the attendees spent the days studying Marx and making voes to improve the lot of Scaffolders in places like Sunderland, all in the very likely event of them hitting a position of power.

Lots of these institutions are spread around Brussels for the EUs own good and the great. Good ol EU democracy/cast system below,

Bullshit!

The English bowmen didn't need a supply deal with the French before Agincourt and we don't need one now!
