I think there should have been more of an understanding that all (western) governments, the banks and the EU itself had a share in the culpability for the mess Greece was in; the whole approach should have been more about agreeing a mutually acceptable resolution, rather than punishing the transgressor pour encourager les autres.

Wibble.

Oh i understand your implication angry, i understand your motives all too well.. Unfortunatly for you the evidence didnt back up your bullshit. Ie i  cant see one post since the socialists were defeated in the election

I have literally no idea what you're on about, you babbling loon. But then, it's possible  (given the way you don't accept threads criticising the EU as evidence of criticism of the EU) I've come to the conclusion that you are incapable of making sense.

I'm still baffled as to why people who want out are being characterised as stupid, it's not as if there are no legitimate reasons for wanting out, Greece being the biggest example. The modern EU is a Goldman Sachs old boys club. I'd only vote in because it's the least worse (or unpredictable) option, but that's not much of a reason to do anything.

Sorry, PB, but this really isn't true. Greece hasn't seen the vast majority of the "bail out" money, it went straight to the banks. The EU and its various cunt institutions had no intention whatsoever of repairing the Greek economy. Most of the proposals that would have helped have been blocked because they would have meant rich people actually paying tax.

They haven't been given financial help. Money has transferred from European tax payers to banks, whilst the Greek economy has shrunk by about 25%, and now the country is being picked apart piece by piece by cunt corporations.

Yes, the greek crisis was much of their own doing just dont tell anyone that.

But, even so, the EU absolutely battered the Greek nation make no mistake about that. Was there a vote in the EU on whether to force Greece into severe austerity because I dont remember one.

So much for the EU's 'democracy.'

The way they treated Greece was a disgrace and I think there's issues re transparency, democracy and corporate takeover

But presumably those businesses and scientists (and I'm sure there's many in the other camp too) all have their own view about why the EU is great. Hawking's seems to be about science funding and sharing of information, which is fair enough, a labourer who's had his wages halved might take a different view, as might the the bulk of the population of Greece.

Evidence for what? That money doesn't attract the brightest or that people don't all work for money?

Exhibit A - the credit crunch and global financial crash

Exhibit B - that fact there's doctors in the Royal Liverpool hospital as we speak covered in Jack Daniels and sick instead of implanting silicone breasts in Santa Barbara. Or indeed, the fact there are still doctors or scientists at all in places like Greece or Iraq.

I've said loads of times the EU is on borrowed time in it's current form. Only a matter of time before Greece goes. It's bearing the brunt of the migrant crisis and neighbouring countries are sealing their borders and even more austerity is being forced on them.

I commented early in this thread to say I would be voting to leave due mainly to the way the EU had acted on Greece and Portugal. I've now changed mind.

Well, well, well.

I'm not getting involved in the Greece arguments. The wealthy took the piss on tax avoidance and the EU treated them very badly causing harm to the millions on the lowest incomes.

That's a side issue compared to the prospect of being run by a populist government who are at the whim of Trump who give even less of a shit about those at the bottom of ladder. If you support cunts like Mogg, Farage and Johnson because of Greece you need a serious word with yourself.

I don't think anyone here does. We criticised the EU, then voted for it as it was the less shit option.

Gnasher is pretending the first part didn't happen.

Labour MP Sarah Champion has just told BBC Politics Live that if it became necessary she would vote for a no deal.

Wow!

Quite clearly it's not the people that are the problem with Brexit. It's our MPs. They would willingly tank the economy for their own personal gain.

Just No Deal it, let the proles see what a No Deal is so we can introduce some of these cunt MPs to lampposts around Westminster.

Sorry but im not saying and did not say te eu wasnt criticised at the time, im saying it seems rather odd that in the week the people of  Greece lose a left wing government very little is said.

The  eu now seems to receive a free hand to do what the fuck it wants and dissent dosnt seem to be tolerated. Its a very closed shop.

.Maybe this forum has followed the mainstream media and lurched to the right. Compere the amount of posts when the Socialists took power in Greece (many, mainly positive) to the posts now the same government has lost power (Very few, mainly non plussed)

Im not sure if those 3 year old quotes are aimed at me and what they are supposed to prove.

This is the part where you say "I was wrong, plenty of people here expressed concerns about Greece".  Otherwise, everyone thinks you're a silly sausage.

Em not really kid. You spent your now wasted time digging up 3 year old posts. It sort of proves my point though, the games over the center right luvvies have won the arguement. The intrest in civil liberties is at an all time low. No one cares. The new greek govt is now the new norm.

You win, well done.

Did the EU have a vote in the Greek elections? Or were the election results down to the Greek electorate?

People criticise the EU when it does bad stuff. Sane people don't criticise it for stuff it's not responsible for.

Grown men having this debate allegedly. Grown. Men.

Im sorry but the socialists losing the greek elections is the main debate in europe.

The loss has mass conitations for the rest of all who reject  austerity and want investment in jobs and public services.

The Greek election result  are a massive blow. The luvvies and hypocrites will make light of it thought whilst sounding outraged over on the Corbyn thread.

No.

The important issues in Greece were the ones that started before Syriza got elected and continued when Syriza bent over to get bummed by the Troika. Those of us who were awake at the time condemned the EU for it because, y'know, the EU were responsible for that.

Fuck it. I'm done with trying to talk sense to you; it's a fool's errand.
