The result of the referendum in 2016 was as near as makes no real difference a 50/50 split. If parliament (the MPs) is meant to be representative of the people, then the fact we are seeing no way forward with Brexit and no conclusive agreements in any direction simply reflects the 50/50 split of the original people's vote.

 

What other major directives have parliament attempted to implement when the voting has be near 50/50? And how successful were they in getting it done?

 

All those people still clamouring for Brexit must realise that if it were to actually go ahead, the current parliamentary representatives and others of their ilk will be the ones making the decisions. With the farce being played out right now, do they really want one of this shower running things?

Libs playing politics by only voting in favour of second vote, if they had backed a Customs Union it would have passed.

Yeah, fucks me off. That said, I think it is a legitimate position to hold if you're a Labour MP from a constituency that was strongly Leave. It wasn't a second referendum exactly, was it. It was confirmation of a deal. Still, they really should have a second referendum. This entire thing is a fucking farce.

GIMP 11 also voted against, so easily 16 votes in favour. 

 

Libs now pushing for Customs union with vote going to people. This would be the compromise that should pass.

I think the idea is that nobody wants a no deal Brexit, so there's going to have to be either a second referendum or an election.

Customs Union is barely better than May's deal. People who have spent the last three years opposing Brexit are hardly likely to swing behind a slightly less damaging version of Brexit.

Most likely that May will hold the No Deal deadline over Parliament to try to force MV3 through I think.  And it may possibly work.

I think the threat of no deal just increased. If the EU hold to the line that you have to offer them a plan before they extend the A50 deadline, then at the moment there is nothing on the table.

The referendum made mockery of the referendum. Allowing 'Leave' to be anywhere from a hippie, left-wing loving remain to a right-wing 'kick em out' remain ensured people weren't going to agree. So now they're whittling down what is acceptable, we should then get to vote on that. 'Hey, guys. That exit you wanted. This is the deal we go. You cool with that or shall we fuck it off?'.

I think the chance of revocation has just increased, too. The chance of a deal has decreased. I just can't see this government, big business who fund them, or the news media allowing it. No fucker wants it.

Are they allowing the public to decide on the deals put forward? Because I haven't seen anything to that effect. They just voted against a second referendum.

No, they should. The should see what they can pass, or the deal the government want if they can’t, then allow the public to decide given the new information. It’s too big not to.
