And you're happy for the youth here to be even more disadvantaged than they are now.

Dickhead.

We've had 10 years of cuts that have resulted in record homelessness and a mass use of food banks. You honestly think the EU gives a fuck?  Whilst they are not the main villain  the EU have been complicit in the hugh rise in inequality throughout the continent.

So what you're saying is you want the EU to interfere with national politics?

Meanwhile, the youth are revolting.

Remember when Russia's post-Soviet economy was tanking, and Yeltsin agreed to sell off state assets to a handful of oligarchs for a relative pittance to ease matters and strengthen his fading grip on power? Millions of ordinary Russians lost out and were told to like it or lump it when queuing for 3 hours just to get some stale bread.

Well, in the ftermath of Brexit (and especially if we actually end up leaving with no deal), a very similar thing could very feasibly end up happening here, and there are already a handful of individuals waiting in the wings to grab UK assets and resources. Some of those actively pushing for a No Deal WANT this to happen because they stand to gain an immeasurable amount from doing so.

The EU has its flaws and has contributed to much of the inequality and baffling European politics of recent times, but the alternative is just a national power grab that will really fuck a lot of people over much more than any EU policy ever could.

Great, we should be like the Ukraine or Belorussia... I didn't see that on the side of the bus

Any more fantastic ideas?

Yep  laugh at others whilst admiring our great western cities Paris and London and marvel at the social cohesion whilst we skip through the stabbings and riots to see an old Julie Andrews film of people singing on a European mountain top.

I thought thatcher sold everything off in the 80's already?

I have friends in the north east of England from a particular hobby of mine.

And they are so blinded into leaving its hard to believe. These crazy fools seem to think the mines, ship yards and steel works will miraculously open come the April 1st, once you guys leave the "evil EU".

I'm amazed at their short sightedness.

But just for balance, haven't these things been sold in front of our very eyes the past 20 years when privatization was the key policy amongst EU  nations.  The EU was complicit or if people argue it wasn't  (it was) it made a very shallow half handed couldn't be bothered attempt to stop it.

Or should we just forgive and forget?

Of course the fact the EU encourage mass immigration to support a capitalist state and increase profits of the wealthy  whilst the low paid and immigrants themselves are  slighted is ignored.

If you mention the squalor throughout Europe (paris athens rome london) you are a bigot and/or racist.

Another one who thinks the EU can do no wrong.

If want riots try paris.

Nobody thinks the EU can do no wrong.

The anti-Macron riots are not anti-EU.  (The leaders of the yellow vests published a list of demands a weeks ago, which never mentioned the EU. )

A characteristically well-considered post.

Its all black and white with you. I have no illusions about the EU but staying in is the better option.

That's a fair point. Staying in may be the better option in the short term, but the political class have made it that way. im willing to accept that.; but in the greater scheme of things I'd prefer the whole thing to come crashing down. We've had 20 to 30 years of this neo lib centre right banker bullshit.

The last French election saw a socialist candidate advocate pulling out of NATO and the EU. The reason he didn't win was the center left parties refused to give him a clear run. The polls suggested he would have trounced both Macron an le penn.

France like Greece like Spain like Italy like Portugal have had enough of this center right bullshit that has seen mass social unrest and huge youth unemployment on a very rich continent.

You scorn when I post valid links to high youth unemployment and poverty but it's obvious outcome is social unrest; the EU has been and continues to be complicit in the chaos caused by injustice and inequality.

Europe is burning.
