Shameless pandering to xenophobic elements from the Labour Party duo. They should be made wherever we can get the best value for taxpayer money.

That's certainly a consideration. It's not the only consideration, though. There's a trade off between putting the 100s of millions into our own economy would have other benefits. However, considering it's (I think) 120m cheaper over the length of the 5-year contract, you have to query why the UK can't compete. And if they can't compete...

Gulp.

Rees-Mogg has labelled remain voters as 'cave dwellers' and has 'warned' Theresa May that she'll be ousted if there is any more EU appeasement. He seems to be getting more and more confident. I wonder if he has a challenge in mind.

120 mill over 5 years is cheap for a symbolic political victory of this nature. Labour should release a policy in a broadcast saying we guarantee the UK passport will be made in Blighty. Voiced by Tom Hardy. Throw in a few spitfire and rule Britannia playing triumphantly in the background and I am almost standing to attention and saluting the queen myself. Gord bless er.

Probably more down to Labour's efforts to make themselves unelectable

It dosnt benefit the taxpayer if taxpayers lose their jobs.

No point knowing cost without value, the two are intwinned.

Seen the price of a first class postage stamp? Complain about that.

This was an interesting passage from yesterday's Guardian. It was written from the perspective of Britons in the EU but surely applies to people here who may one day choose to work elsewhere?

As it stands, Britons’ professional qualifications will not be recognised anywhere outside the country of their residence and they will be unable to offer their services in another EU country or to people in another country.

This will affect professionals including IT contractors, bankers, lawyers and architects, as well as people working in engineering, pharmaceuticals, hospitality, the media and the arts.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/mar/21/eu-leaders-accused-of-not-protecting-citizens-rights-in-brexit-deal

My industry (architecture) could be hit pretty hard by all of this and that's before considering the impact this whole clusterfuck generally has on construction.

Mutually recognised qualifications is really important in architecture/engineering, as is the ability to work across the EU. The practice I work for employ people from across Europe (and beyond) and if we take that away then there's a huge skills gap.

The impact on the Universities that train those people will be huge too, not just for the aforementioned careers but generally. There will be a huge reduction in numbers as people go elsewhere within the EU to get those qualifications that are recognised more widely. The effect on universities is already being felt, with potential EU and international students being put off coming to the UK because the perception is that they aren't welcome.

Edit - and I forgot to mention the ridiculous position of EU nationals that have been living in the UK for a long time. Some of my colleagues are now having to apply for residency. One, a Polish technician with 25 years experience, who is absolutely terrific at her job, who spends her days interpreting Building Regulations, writing specifications and coordinating detailed technical information is worried sick that she won't pass the stupid fucking language and history tests that 90% of the UK's population would fail.

Its been a while but, fuck Brexit, the stupid cunts.

Excellent April piss-taking from the European Parliament.

Check out @EPinUK’s Tweet: https://twitter.com/EPinUK/status/980320102183788544?s=09

Basically, Brexit has made the UK the Everton of Europe; they're all laughing at us.

Top trolling.

Cue howls of outrage from right-wingers who spend the rest of the time complaining that you can’t say anything nowadays for fear of upsetting someone.

Remember the chinless, flag-waving Brexiteer cunts braying about a "bonfire of red tape"?

We know that the TUC have warned how dangerous that would be for British workers. Now the CBI are warning that it would be shit for the employers, too.
