One thing Berger had that a lot of our players like benayoun lacked is balls. He was a big game player.

Not always,I disagree. Like I said earlier,he was hot and cold.

My memories are also that most of his better games came in home games, but its been so long its difficult to remember with any certainty. He did jump out of tackles a fair bit though.

SSN saying that Liverpool are talking to Fenerbahce about loaning Markovic to them for a year.

I hope not.  If this season is going to be any fun at all, then we're going to play a fuck of a lot of games, so we're going to need a deep squad.  I don't see the point in scraping Lazar off now (especially as there is no intention to replace him).  If he's good enough to play in the Europa League for Fener, why not for the Reds?

We still have about 30 players. A much bigger squad than City or Chelsea.

Although I'd rather we trimmed it by binning half a dozen permanently, than loaning players out.

Only if you're counting Brannigan, Fulton, Kent, McLoughlin, Yesil, Ilori, etc.  How many of them are likely to see the first team this season?  How many are likely to be good enough?

Markovic may not have set the world on fire last season, but he's got the excuse that it was his first season in a more physically demanding league and that he was in a team that was usually unsettled and a bit shit.  I'd like a chance to see what he'd be capable of once he's had a chance to settle in and when he's playing in a stronger set-up.

If we want to trim the squad, Markovic is not the one to start with.

I counted Ilori out of those.

Agreed.

What the absolute fuck is going on?

This seems a bit like that time when Rafa signed a load of his own "youth" players because he had control over the first team squad and was playing politics because he didn't like the youth set up.

Rodgers is deliberately fucking off any player signed by "the committee" in order to cement his position of power and decision making.  Apart from Coutinho who is so good that he is protected.

Markovic needs to play, really it's a toss up between him and Ibe who will play for us. If we've chosen to invest the time in Ibe then that's fine but you would think loaning him somewhere of a higher standard than Turkey would be more beneficial

He isn't gonna play is he...

Both him and Lallana should never have been signed - just no room for both.

If and when Sturridge comes back surely we go to a 4-4-2 diamond - how does he get in, where do we accomodate him, Lallana, Firmino and Ibe in that set up?

Markovic is absolute tosh and will never be a top player.

Dreadful.

It was awful waste of money buying him. What happens next - loaning, keeping, selling for peanuts - is directly related to him being shit and a waste if money.

We can do nothing positive now to rectify the mistake of buying him.

I'll bet my last dollar that we won't play 2 up top in any starting line-up this season. We will be left exposed at the back if that was to happen and that just doesn't fit in with Rodgers's plan to keep himself in employment.
