So you have issues with Somalia, but don't mind the Balkans (Croatia, Albania, Montenegro etc...) with the gun, drug and child trafficking. Bizzare.

I suggest Malaysia, Yemen or Morocco. All of them stunning and peaceful places, as long as you are not going around asking for trouble. Somalia is amazing too.

One day, I would love to go to the French Polynesia.

So far my favourite country is Japan.

Genoa gets a really bad rep from Italians (mainly those not living in Genoa) but I absolutely loved the place. The architecture is stunning, the port (at the right time of the year) is like an accessible version of Monaco, and they make the best pizzas in the country (and therefore the world).

How do you compare the two, Paphos and Protaras? What are the main differences?

I have been to Protaras twice recently, both in and out of season, and while I have enjoyed it both times (the beach is gorgeous) and would go back, I don't think it's what JohnnyH is after this time round by the sound of it, ie full of English people (but mainly families) and lots of Anglo-Irish bars.

Yeah, true. The bars and nightlife were fitting for us as were over there for a wedding. Plus it was fairly quiet as the season hadn't peaked yet, which was nice.

From what I can recall, paphos is more secluded, relaxed and spread out, with more of a Greek orientated feel to it.

The main thing for me was the local people. Absolutely brilliant wherever we went.

I shamelessly adore most of the country.

Me too. I lived in Italy for about 6 months when opening a number of operations around the place. I based myself in Bologna but travelled north and South. It's a beautiful country, although the farther south you got, the more dilapidated it got.

Sure, sure, "operations". Like cinemas no-one has ever been in.
