My lad's been taking drumming lessons since Christmas.  His instructor told me tonight that his progress is startling, he has some real natural talent going on.  He's been learning to play bass as well since October and doing well in that.  Fourteen years old and just music crazy.

Fingers crossed I'll be posting some of his drumming on here in years to come !

We'll see what happens when his attention invariably turns to the opposite sex........

Great that he's got an instructor, that'll help him massively in a number of ways.

 

And being in a band is a great way to meet birds so you should have no concerns on that front. Hopefully he's not a useless cunt like I was & actually bangs a few of them.

The most important thing I can tell you is make sure he gets onto some hearing protection if it becomes a regular thing. Even if it’s some cheap foam ear plugs to begin with.

 

When I’ve had students I’ve had them buy some even before discussing what sticks they should buy.

 

My hearing isn’t what it used to be, wished it hasn’t taken me years to get onto it.
