How brave were those men and women who fought and lived through that? What a generation!

Then they came home and denounced war and hatred and built good affordable housing for our children and a national health service for the old and young if they fell iill.

Our working class ancestors have made this country great, many lost their lives and the ones who didnt came home and did the name of their fallen friends proud.

We shall remember them.

The whole world is grateful for what our people did, lets not let Murdoch, the Tory's and the media take that away from us, don't let them take it away from them.

its ours, that's our victory and victories don't come bigger than that.

Also my Mum's birthday. Imagine having a birthday on the day the war ended? She's 87 now.

Her and my dad have their wedding anniversary on 6th June. D-Day.

We must never forget the carnage, the heroism, the blood and brutality or the tiny moments of mercy.

I watched 'The Pianist' the other night. Fuck. German invasion of Poland. True Story apparently. Adrian Brody is superb. Just one story from a world in flames.

RIP all those who served, died , survived, witnessed.

I'm leaning toward Atheism these days, but my humanity has never been more real, or my empathy more rewarding.

Shit happens but we should never just let it.

Oh yeah, one more thing:

Lets stop the genocide in west papua.

I mean this with no disrespect to those brave individuals who sacrificed their lives for our freedom during WW2 which was a completely justified and unavoidable conflict.

But what does piss me off , especially watching similar ceremonies for WW1, is the sight of politicians and top generals dressed in all their finery laying wreathes and saluting and bowing heads to the cenotaph and then going back into the foreign office and sending young lads off to Iraq and Afghanistan. If they truly remembered the dead they would stop sending our lads off on unjustified foreign campaigns to add to the sacrifice

They are now just private armies who save the rich the cost of hiring merecenaries to protect their oil and mineral interests. Politicians dont give a fuck because they are just told what to do and simply do it.
