I have struggled to replicate a good Vietnamese coffee here in UK

My French ma in law has one so used you could probably just put water in it and get a decent coffee.

Me too! I alternate between that and Rich Italian. ASDA have had them on 2 for £5 for the last few months so I always get one of each.

Just like nice filter coffee, Halton Borough Council's meeting filter coffee is the best coffee I've ever had, I have high street coffee at a push but don't really like it that much - Rhode Island's is the best of a bad bunch, Costa's is rank. Used to have about 20 coffees a day in my old job, twas a palpitations fest. 

 

Is that just the standard Jar on a hot plate stuff?

 

If so I'm in agreement. Remember a travel agents in Bootle Strand back in the day that had one for guests. Remeber helping myself whilst my Ma sorted a holiday, still in my mind the best damn coffee I ever had.
