Ibe was always junk. Never had a goal / assist in him. Remember one particularly woeful performance away to Stoke in Rodgers' final season. He'd take the ball then just run down the line with absolutely no product. Some spectators are impressed by a player being given possession of the ball. Equally a team of talented pros can hide a lot of the faults mediocre players have against most teams they play: we've had a few over the years who get decent reviews initially then rightly vanish (ibe; Otsembor; Flanagan etc etc)

Although I didn’t say that, I did think at the time the blow of Sterling leaving was lessened by the fact we had Ibe ready to step in / up.

Those first pre-season games he played in the Far East (I know) he looked electric - incredibly fast, tricky and built like a brick shit out.

Unfortunately that was as good as it ever got for him.

He looked Ok at times when Klopp first came in as well but not enough. His performances came across as brain dead, head down and run down a cul-de-sac.

I get that.

My position is, through painful experience, that potential rarely makes the grade. Particularly when your rival takes the proven talent he's meant to replace, off you.

He scored a winner in a European game,I think.

4 goals in around 120 league games from a winger. Laughable numbers. But as I said he is not unique. Ince, Plessis, Amoo etc - either players hyped up or actually praised on a debut who go on to become only marginally-professional footballers. It’s a tough game. In Bournemouth’s case however whoever sanctioned those signings has presumably been fired for malpractice & ostracised from the sport.
