I think our name just gets used by every club and agent looking to swing things for / against contract rebels, drum up interest, or agitate for a move.

 

It's easy because no matter the player, good or bad, it's believable when it's us.

 

Lacazette won't sign a new contract, there's a paucity of bidders for him at the price they want, so Lyon leak a story that they may sell to us, managing to both threaten the player that he'll end up without CL football, and attempt to drum up interest from richer bidders at the same time.

Wouldn't say no to him mate but i agree we need a better DM/creator from deep midfield. Just can't see Henderson, Milner, Can, Lucas or Allen being able to dictate the pace of a game from the middle of the pitch. Unless he is planning on playing Texiera or the new Allan there, i don't see the "passer" in our midfield.

It would not surprise me if there is some sort of loose agreement between clubs using the same agents that it is ok to do this as long as we can too.

Lacazette wont sign a new deal, but he's still got 3 years to run on his current one. He probably wants to move to the premier league and would like to move to us but Lyon are refusing to sell him. Why would they unless he forces the move?

 

But make no mistake about it if he signed for us we could compete for the title and that's even with the likes of Joe Allen in midfield. There is 50-60 goals between Lacazette, Sturridge and Benteke when they're fit. Add about 10 from Firmino 5-10 from Coutinho, 5 from Lallana, 5 from Henderson, 5 from Milner....we could hit near 2013/2014 numbers, which would put us in the title race, regardless of our defence.

I think Teixeira can play in there, he showed on his debut he won't shy from a challenge when he clattered heitinga. Otherwise Milner and Henderson are both more than capable of managing the game from there and creating chances.

I reckon our midfield is quite decent. Yes, it would be nice to have a proper classy operator in there like a kovacic or illaramendi but we've got loads of options.

If we bin 3 strikers we have to get in another. If we sign another top player I will start to feel optimistic.

 

I have never seen Lacazette play so i don't know if he is the answer but i know he is better than Mario so why not!
