Middle Class Generalisation Thread

I’ve just read that Anna Frid of ABBA was the daughter of an SS officer as part of a Nazi forced breeding program. This is a fact. Nothing to do with middle class mores but we don’t seem to have a thread called “pop stars with Nazi fathers” so I have come here with this astonishing information. I wouldn’t hold it against her though.

I read her mother had been raped by a German soldier, but I could be wrong.

I think that's all I used to think of doing when I was a teenager.

My late grandmother and her daughter (my late auntie) were.  Together.

Except by members of the "winning" team, so that was OK.

Then, they even popped around to grandma's house after 1945 to check whether she needed to leave the kitchen - where she was preparing soup for whomever remained of her 13 kids - and come in for "questioning" about her "Nazi sympathies" and any possible "war crimes" she'd committed during her soup preparations and the family's forced migrations etc in the early 1940s.

Nice people, those winners.  Unlike my grandma, the ladle-wielding Nazi brute.

I'm not sure it is actually a fact. The way the kids were treated afterwards was terrible though.

If they need waterproof trousers for something they already own them, they don't have to buy them special.

They call spaghetti linguine.

Doesn’t everybody own waterproof trousers? Surely they are a basic for hiking in the Alps during winter. Or Wales if you insist on staying on the island

Also, a quick life hack. If you don’t have linguine in the cupboard, just hit your spaghetti flattish with a hammer

The first one is just sensible, especially if you spend any amount of time walking outdoors in the UK!

I reckon it's more middle class to distinguish between spaghetti and linguine, they're clearly different.
