If anyone in Merseyside has got any children's books they no longer need, we're collecting them to send to South African school libraries.

http://www.community-heart.org.uk/projects-home/third-million-book-ten-pence-appeal/

We're looking for books for kids of all ages - from the first picture & word books you'd read to a toddler, right up to teenage fiction: from the Hungry Caterpillar to the Hunger Games.  We're not really looking for school textbooks; more for the kind of books that kids might enjoy reading, to encourage them to keep reading and educating themselves.

The collection is being organised by the Merseytravel branch of Unison, so if you do have any books, you can hand them in to the bus stations in Liverpool, Birkenhead, Bootle, Huyton or St Helens (or any of the Mersey Ferries terminals) and ask them to pass the books to the Unison steward.

We'll be collecting books until the end of January, so if you need to make space on any kids' shelves after Christmas, you can give us your unwanted books and we'll give them a good home.

Brilliant. My daughter is currently editing her room. I reckon I could persuade her to part with a load. I can put them aside for when I'm next down

If you read AoT's post back again I think you might find that you've quite literally missed the boat on that one.

You'll still get a rep for trying to give stuff away in my giving stuff away thread though.

Oops. Didn't spot the date on that.

Not to worry, the Oxfam bookshop near us is probably handier.

I don't suppose anyone's after a single bed?

If Remmie's dad takes it and puts it next to the other bed and the futon, then he could probably fill a room with beds. Which would be handy for all the hookers that the GF is determined to buy him

Having a bit of a declutter, so I'm chucking out some old fanzines.  (Not that I'm referring to Usher's magnificent organ as "clutter".)  I've got about 21 copies of Through The Wind & Rain (going back to about 1992) and about 27 TLWs.

Anyone fancy them?

Have you still got the TLW’s, Mal?
