Result excepted, that was another poor game. Rodgers needs gagging. Magnificent? Fuck off Brendan. We were playing Stoke, and the first half was possibly the worst we have served up all season at home. Completely bereft. Clueless, directionless.

Henderson captain, fucking hell, we've sunk pretty low. Another shite game from him. Offered next to no cover to Johnson, and apart from a bit of ineffective running around towards the end of the game, all he did was give the ball away.

Lucas was terrible. Bypassed in midfield, responsible for giving them the chance that hit the post, and missing a sitter. Christ on a bike.

Allen was man of the match by some distance. Tireless running, made more interceptions than the rest of the midfield put together, and did all Lucas's running for him in DM. An excellent performance from Allen. Could have scored too - a ball played behind him made it difficult, but it was a half chance.

Lambert at least looked like he gave a fuck, and was significantly less hapless than he's been since he joined.

Johnson. Fuck me. He played well overall, and capped it with a committed header to win the game. Toure, likewise, had another good game - his reading of the game and his leadership of the back 4 was good to see. And the much-criticised Mignolet made a number of excellent saves as Stoke found it rather too easy to carve opportunities through the middle and down the flanks.

Coutinho was wasteful, and Sterlings performance was marked by the number of poor decisions he made - notably turning into trouble on numerous occasions.

So, apart from the win, and the performances of Allen and Mignolet, not much to cheer. Another disjointed - and in the first half - leaderless performance.

You really have got a bit of a problem with Henderson Stringy.

I completely disagree with you on him.

I realise he isnt anywhere near an all time great but he is like the likes of Ronnie Whelan or Ray Houghton who werent spectacular but were very noticeable when missing.

Henderson also seems to be involved in most of our goals, either as the assist player or in the build up to it. It was his cross that Lambert headed against the bar and Johnson bundled in,of course.

I wish we had more like him myself.

I've decided to take the bull by the horns and have a go at starting one of these match threads.

I'm quietly confident about this game,so hopefully that'll inspire some luck on the pitch.

Reports that Stoke are dealing with an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug, with Begovic, Bardsley and another sent home today, and Stoke are weary that it could hit others.

I wouldn't make too many changes to last night's starting XI, Gerrard to drop back to replace Allen, with Coutinho or Lallana to play at the head of the diamond, and Moreno in at left back.

No excuses here, we must win this and then try to get a few back to back wins on the board.

3-1, Liverpool.

get the Leicester match thread going then
