Jose Jones called out this transfer straight away as absolute bollocks.  I disagreed with him but he was 100% correct.

I justified it to myself as a clever Plan B signing for our strike force, an option we lacked in the title surge of 2013/14. Shame we jettisoned our Plan A (and every other letter) in Suarez that summer without an adequate like-for-like replacement.

Some of the players we've signed in the last 10 years must be up there with the worst ever in the premiership, Lambert, Koncheski, Adam, Carroll, and we wonder why we're always also rans. Nobody signs shite quite like us. Other clubs sign players who may turn out to be shite, we sign players who we all KNOW are shite and do in fact turn out to be shite.

Cheer up, Everton signed Rooney.

.

His goals got Southampton promoted which was no mean achievement when you see the club now ; a well financed and solid premiership outfit , He wasn't good enough for them and the emotional move home suited their purposes

Eh?  He was their top scorer for the two seasons before he joined us wasn't he?

I love Wanyama but we had our chance to get him when he was at Celtic, don't think we'll be doing any business with Southampton in the near future. We should grab Van Dijk from Celtic now by the way, he's going to be class and would be a great partner for Sakho style-wise. We're being linked strongly with William Carvalho again too, and as much as I'd love Wanyama at LFC, Carvalho's ceiling is even higher and he's more versatile, very in Matic mold. Plus the prospect of Can-Carvalho-Coutinho midfield in front of the defense is amazing, Carvalho-Can would be disgustingly good together. Porn.

Put this guy on the transfer committee.

Liverpool fans do have an admirable buy misplaced 'make do and mend' attitude to player acquisition, I don't know where it comes from, but there's some kind of denial, anger acceptance style stages at play where we gradually accept shite players, try and reason them out, hope they'll be better than we thought then get angry and depressed when they're not.

I tend to expect them all to be shite these days and then have fleeting moments of excitement when some of them show flashes of brilliance to prove me wrong . At that point they usually leave or get injured and I return to my default position . Bleak

He wasn't dogshit, he'd just found his level at Southampton. He'd have enjoyed a good end to his career if he'd stayed there.

Can't blame him for wanting to come home when he got the opportunity though.

He was complete dogshit, no one can argue otherwise.

I don’t for a second blame him saying yes to the deal!

He wasn't complete dogshit,.  He got Southampton out of the Championship

What was dogshit were the decision makers at Liverpool who thought he could fit in here

It was just the general outlook at the club. Let's buy Balotelli for 16m because he's a headache for his current club but if we can coach him right and flog him for his proper value if he ever gets his shit together then it will be a success. Oh we've got a few million quid left so let's get another squad filler rather than use both fees to buy a player who can make a difference to the starting 11. Instead the whole money was wasted on players who offered virtually nothing to the club.

Yes mate you are quite right, the millions that have been squandered over the last few years has almost been criminal.Koncheskis, poulson,Cole,Carroll,Adam,Downing,Balotelli,as you say,Benteke,Lovren,Lambert,Mignolet, fuck we could go on and on.None of them were an improvement on what we already had.
