The shitness of modern football

Recommended Posts

Matchday team lists on sites like BBC or Sky Sports putting the full name of players from places like Brazil, Portugal and Spain instead of what that player is usually known by. If you hover over the name, a little box pops up with the more familiar player name. If you named Fábio Henrique Tavares, most people won't have a clue who you are referring to, but say Fabinho and they'll probably know you're talking about the bandy-legging midfield dynamo at Liverpool.

The line ups in the Grauniad shit me. They show which substitutes came on and what time but don't give any indication of who came off. 14 a side matches?

Official club accounts giving out shit online bantz. Whoever drew Barcelona in the group stages putting out that they’ll need to practice their corners, for example.

Obviously we’ll chuckle at the memory of what that’s referring to, but I’m noticing it more and more and it stinks of Paddy Power try-hard cuntery.

Having to listen to anything about Ozil

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has said the door is open for Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil, 30, to regain his status as a Gunners superstar, having not featured for the first team this season.

Fair play to Spurs for this. The prevalence of betting company sponsorships is really depressing and a fundamental element in the shitness of modern football.

They need to have a unified message, though. Harry Kane is part of a campaign in Kenya where there's a massive gambling problem and a huge spike in suicides linked to gambling debts.

Imagine going for a pint with him, Shearer and Murphy though?

Two clear examples yesterday of away teams unnecessarily changing their kit. Watford and Norwich - both play in bright yellow for fucks sake - unless they’re playing each other or Wolves - why do they need to use their all-dark second kit to play Newcastle and West Ham respectively? So fucking cynical and clearly aimed at ‘selling’ yet more shirts. Premier League need to rule on this to prevent it.

Just looking at Harry Kane's face is enough to make people contemplate ending it all.
