You see all this talk about Premier League clubs devaluing trophies by playing weakened teams in the domestic cups, yet the promotion system through the lower leagues does the same thing. 

 

Leeds gaining promotion was obviously a big deal. Just days later, they are officially confirmed as champions and it's almost an afterthought. West Brom gaining promotion was a news flash during the Liverpool v Chelsea game. Now you'll have a huge song and dance about teams 3-6 pushing for the 3rd spot. It's all over the place. 

 

Ideally, the champions are the only ones gaining promotion through league position alone. Teams 2nd and 3rd play a H&A tie, with the winner going up. The loser drops into a repechage-type play-off. 4th and 5th play a H&A and the winner plays the loser of 2nd v 3rd. The higher -placed team in any playoff automatically gets all advantages, ie their choice on which leg is at home, which end to kick to, who goes first in a potential shootout scenario. Make each spot up the league table mean something. 

 

The biggest thing would be no trophies or medals for anyone but the champions. Have a banner drop down, confetti, t-shirts etc, celebrate the achievement. Just no trophies.

I hated 2.30pm until kick off. The FA patting yourself on the back for fuck all half hour. Its appropriate that its two London clubs in an empty stadium this year.

Now its also a 5.30pm kick off for absolutely no reason at all,at least this year there cannot be any 'worries' about fans.

I think the timing is more to do with it being better for the overseas markets.

It sure has.. a late kick-off normally means no trains back up North (not an issue this year I know), but the main thing is the lads in Thailand don't have to wake up 2 hours earlier to watch their team, fuck the fans that travelled down to Wembley but have to either leave before the final whistle or miss the last train.... What a choice.

I remember the Chelsea final in 2012 it took two hours for the coach to get out of the Wembley car park (by that time you knew the majority of their fans would be either home or in the pub) then didn’t get home till nearly 3 in the morning . Which was in total contrast to the enjoyable experiences of Cardiff (ok I know winning always makes it so much better but still)

Decided after that I’d never go a FA Cup final or semi again, I’d rather watch it in the boozer or at home.

Cardiff trips were great. I saw us win the FA Cup twice,the League Cup and a Charity Shield. All good days out too.

I went to all the Cardiff games, bar Arsenal, in the Community Shield. They were great days, but I felt they lacked a certain something. The FA Cup Final was Wembley and the Twin Towers. Not been to the new one. It looks shite.

Have mates who are Birmingham fans and it seems Bellingham had lots of admirers telling him to avoid a deal at Birmingham and they would sort him out financially if he signed,  but he said that he owed Brum for all their coaching of him since he was a 7 year old and instructed his agent to sign a new contract so they would get a decent fee to help the club and make sure everybody got paid.

 

Not saying the retiring the shirt is appropriate but a bit more understandable.

Fuck knows why your coach took till 3 in the morning to get home. My lad who'd gone on my ticket via coach was back at Childwall 5 Way by about 10pm.
