The shitness of modern football

Chelsea have infinite money and aren't allowed to sign any players. He's probably the best winger they have at the club, he's English and he's only 18. If he ran his contract down he could go wherever he liked and Chelsea couldn't replace him. I can't think of many situations better for a player going into a contract negotiation.

His agent would need to be of subhuman intellect to walk away with less than that. I'm surprised he didn't get more.

We paid out quite a bit on Agent Fees on last available figures, and a loan cap would potentially hit Chelsea's Farm?

Good to see something done but still 10% of a transfer fee for a slimey agent is way too much, particularly with the big money deals. If a player wants an agent then it should be his responsibility to pay them and nothing to do with clubs. I can imagine Shanks,Jock Stein or Clough wellying these agents out the door if they were still around.

Barcelona fined a whopping €300 fine for tapping up Griezeman.

That'll learn them. They won't be doing that again.

The Cheeky bastards are going to appeal it!!

10% is just what they're getting anyway isn't it? I don't see this changes anything.

I don't think there is a fixed percentage applicable currently. When Pogba rejoined the Mancs for around £90m, about a third of that was payable to his agent Raiola.

Clubs do not need to pay for an agent's services to represent them, especially if they already have a half-decent legal team in-house to handle that aspect, yet so many of them do. They are loathe to speak directly with each other when making enquiries for players, instead going about things in a way that is bound to piss somebody off.

The agent should solely be the player's representative, and the player should be responsible for paying any agent fees. If that were to be enforced, you'd see one of three things: the agent fee is covered by way of inflating the player's contract to cover it; the agent fee is covered through some complex parent company arrangement like Man City do, keeping the player's contract 'reasonable'; or the agent fee is paid by way of a brown envelope under the counter. That last one is getting more and more difficult to cover up because it's so difficult to hide the money trail when the amount involved is so high.

As for the loan deal limitations, at least they are a step in the right direction. I've long said that if you restrict how many times a player can be loaned out by his parent club, it reduces the incentive for a club to stockpile talent. We've got players like Allan and Taiwo Awoniyi who are registered with us but have never played for the club at any level, always going out on loan elsewhere. It's partly down to not qualifying for a work permits, but we've never ever given any indication that the players have a future here. Why hang on to them?

The 'hi vis' yellow ball returns to football this weekend. What a crock of shit.

We used to play with a predominantly white ball unless there was fucking snow on the pitch. Ok, ok, yeah we used to play with an orange ball or a casey in days gone by but they were used all season and not switched because the ball maker wants to get more money.
