Winter coats and jackets

What are people's thoughts on parkas? Seems like they must be out of style as there's hardly any online.

I sold one last year as it was bulky as fuck, but am missing it as a "nuclear option" for anytime I know I'll be stood outside in the cold and rain for ages. Waterproof coats tend to be thin and warm coats like puffers tend to not be waterproof, but a parka does it all.

Would be good to get a smart, midweight one that doesn't look like it's from a 90s polar expedition.

Parkas are the best winter coats you can get IMO. Seen nice ones from Fred Perry, Aquascutum & Alpha Industries just this week.

Try Atom Retro for them, you can type Parka in the search bar on there.

I've still got a hankering for a duffle coat but never have enough money for the ones I want.

You are more likely to need a decent Winter coat. Us Brits tend to mostly just have to deal with varying temperatures of rain.

Fucks sake, I dont even know what is my newest coat.

This is he last one I bought, my old one was the Grenoble one, my new one is the Zürich one.

Its waterproof by the way, in Stavanger where I live we have a lot more rain than snow.

There is a inner jacket I can remove when the temprature gets higher.

Again, very happy with it.

How many coats do people generally own?

I've got a cagoule for the rain, two G9 Harringtons, a smock and a Bomber jacket, which do me for the warmer months.

A big parka & a wool G9 for the winter.

So seven in total.

Yeah everything? I have to rotate my coats to the loft as I have so many.

Including sports jackets/ blazers, about 17 at last count. That does include two waxed jackets that are totally fucked, but I keep anyway to use for 'gardening'. Oh, and a snowboarding jacket (I've never been snowboarding) that I found out - when doing the Yorkshire three peaks- is actually about as waterproof as a teabag. Truth be told, I only wear about four of my coats regularly.

I have zero winter coats. Every year I look to buy one and always come up short.

I really want a decent waterproof jacket. Not really into coats as I hate the bulk of them but a nice thin rain jacket and a hoody underneath to keep me warm would be ideal.
