Winter coats and jackets

I'm looking for something warm and waterproof, so probably a technical make.

Not too bulky like a big parka, though if possible I'd like it longer so that it goes below the arse as opposed to just jacket-length.

Any ideas, chums?

I like my quilted (too short for you), my parka (banned) and my cashmere overcoat (not really rainproof). You could try a waxed jacket like this

A waxed jacket won't keep you warm unless you buy one of the zip-in liners or layer up underneath. In terms of a longer length Barbour waxed jacket, I'd go for the Border, which is timeless and won't go out of fashion.

Like a lot of things, though, the price of Barbour jackets increases but the quality decreases.

I've no idea what size you are, but this vintage, unworn one would make for a much better investment, as it will be considerably better made.

Schott 740N US Navy Pea Coat. Bought online a few months ago as a little treat for meself. It wasn’t cheap but probably the warmest coat I’ve ever owned and it looks like it will last a good few years. Timeless

That's the exact one I own. Boss coat. Last forever and far better in rain than you expect it to be.

Sounds awesome, love proper American Schott stuff.

Been sauntering around feeling a bit smug in this the last couple of days. Beast from the east my sweaty hoop...

Won’t be able to wear it the other 8 months of the year unfortunately unless I get a job on a soviet submarine!

Superb with a strong wind behind you and you can righteously wear it with the collar fully up.
