Salah seventh. Really.

What period should they be voting for?

The 20/21 season or 2021 or what?

On the above metrics, I don’t think Salah should win it, but based if his current 21/22 form continues, he’ll be up there next season.

It's been absolute dogshit ever since the powers-that-be decided that the winner must have some connection with the El Clasico cunts. The last player to win in and have no connection with those two is Shevchenko back in 2004. Ukraine hadn't qualified for Euro 2004, and Milan didn't win the Champions League (though they did win Serie A) but the Ukrainian's performances that year were outstanding so the award was fully merited. Lewandowski's basically been robbed of the award 2 years running now, and he's been even more impressive than Shevchenko was back then.

The ballon d’or could be a joke . How come Keegan did not win in 1977 vs Simonsen ?

In 1986, Zavarov should have won it, Belanov was a joke.

It's voted by bent journalists, this award doesn't have any credibility any more. I do think Messi is the best of his generation but it's bullshit that Lewandowski was denied the award last season, the powers that be preferred to scrap it than award it to someone not named Messi or Ronaldo.

This has always been a ludicrous award, and shows why football shouldn't be about individual awards, but about the team.

I'm personally of the opinion that if you are going to give this award to the best footballer in the world, Messi should probably be on about 12, as he's been the best footballer in the world since the 2007/8 season. He had one season which was blighted by injury, but he was still the best footballer in the world. I have a much bigger issue with the goalpoacher extraordinaire being on 5, as he's never been the best player in the world. He might have had one or two seasons where he statistically outscored Messi, but to most non-stattos (also excepting Real, Utd, Sporting and Portugal supporters) there hasn't really been much debate who the better footballer is. Goalscorer yes, footballer no. It's about as close as a debate to who the better footballer between Cruyff and Gerd Muller would be... Difference being Messi actually putting up similar numbers to his Muller equivalent.

If the criteria is weighted heavily towards tournaments (as it seems), it really shouldn't be an individual award anyway. Apart from Maradona and Messi, no player is capable of dragging 10 players to glory.

Lewandowski should have won last year when they decided to cancel the award. There was no way they weren't giving it to Messi after the Copa win (again with the tournament success being important).

It's a year long award. It's obvious why he won it. He was still extremely good for Barcelona and he won the Copa America. Now he is noticeably worse for PSG but he's played about 10 games for them.

The part that was rigged in Messi's favour is they keep playing Copa America's almost every year now which is easier to win while Lewandowski obviously wasn't going to win the Euros.

The Ballon D’or is a glorified piss up for all the UEFA free loaders and cronies, so it’s hardly surprising the results are flawed, if you’re not in the click you don’t stand a chance and, to be fair, Messi and Ronaldo have been standout players over the last 10 years, so no wonder they just keep giving it to either of them. Easy option.

Which simply shows you why you should never bother reading a match report and expect it resemble the one you yourself watched.
