Ballon D'or

Laughable, joint European Golden Boot winner and form player in world football for much of last season doesn't even make the shortlist. Unless somehow last season counts towards next year's award.

Who knows with FIFA, otherwise shows how far English football has fallen in the pecking order, he'll be in the top 3 next year.

No nomination for Suarez. Bite or no bite, a ridiculous snub

Mourinho up for coach of the year

All above board I'm sure.....

For fucking what? Being about the ONLY high-profile manager not to win a trophy last season?

As for Suarez not even making the list.....just wow.

I can see the idea of winning something as a determining criterion, hence Luis' exclusion. Mourinho got a nod because he's good copy and always stays on the good side of journos, leaving his fights for other managers and players.

One hand washes the other.

I'd say Brendan not being in the coach's shortlist was just as big a snub.

All the managers nominated either won something or performed well in FIFA/Uefa competitions, not really a suprise. If Rodgers got to a semifinal in the Champions League or better, he would more than likely get greater respect across Europe. The Suarez snub, is purely down to being a bit bitey at the World Cup and Uruguay's mocking FIFA.

Should be between Suarez and Ronaldo. Arguably Ronaldo should win it as he is just phenomenal. Messi had his worst year in a while and was injured for a lot of it.

Suarez will win it next year and be crowned king of the world

Simeone has to be the coach of the year. Or Pardew.

Similar to Luis, when it came to the vote, the headbutt counted against him.

No Suarez and just one(!) player from Atletico Madrid, who happens to be a Chelsea player. If Simeone doesn't win the coach of the year award, they should just terminate this hilariously corrupt competition.

European football has become a boring conservative toy for the elite and a marketing stream for the multinational corporations.

How many more years of this Ronaldo/Messi bullshit. One is a boring ladyboy with a shrunk penis from the roids he got while managed by the old drunk and who had an average season and the other is a great footballer who has been suffering from a loss in his form and injuries. But I suppose as long as it entertains the interests of the sports merchandise giants who are behind them is fine. Boring, Boring, Boring.

It's the Barcelona and Real Madrid awards. Masch never nominated with us, nominated with Barcelona, Alonso never nominated with us, nominated with Real. Steven Gerrard has he ever been in the team of the year? Gerard Pique always nominated and in the team of the year, bullshit.

They ruined the Ballon D'Or when they opened it up to non-European players who play in Europe, and turned it into an award for who is the most high-profile player or who plays for the most high-profile clubs. That said, apart from the World Cup, Ronaldo has been the best player in 2014. His goalscoring form has been phenomenal.
