I know goalkeepers have a longer shelf-life than normal outfield players, but at 32, will he have as much of an effect coming back from an ACL as he would pre-injury? Out of curiousity, is there any precedent for this? Does it matter that much with goalkeepers basically?

This seems to be following the normal pattern on here, at first everyone's sceptical of the news being true, then when it's proved true the majority are made up, when it get's to the stage he's about to sign loads of posters come out of the woodwork addressing "concerns" then after we sign him everyones made up again.

Until he fucks up, at which point the thread is bumped.

I thought all football clubs have insurance policies that cover injured players. So it would not be Liverpool on the hook for his wages. Hence the problem with Remy. They have medicals for a reason, let him take one, then either do business or walkaway.

Have you tried insuring a fucked car? Or insuring yourself to drive if you've a drink drive conviction?

If you're a bad risk, ins cos will either decline to insure or charge a stupid fee for new business. So it would be the club on the hook for his wages.

If he doesn't think that the club should get him into Melwood for a couple of days to prove his fitness on the field, he should jog on.  if he can, that is.

The club needs a new goalkeeper.  A top class goalkeeper.  even LFC is not insane enough to throw away a kings ransom on a player who may not be able to last 90 minutes.  He's probably uninsurable at the moment, or if not, it would be prohibitively expensive.

Remind me what was the net spending again this season? Have you had a look at the league table recently? A look at Mignolet's performances?

You can't blame our shite performances on the board Nightcat.

Yep, agree with all of this.  And FSG did get carried away letting Kenny blow all that money on shite.  I did hope that they have learned their lesson from that, but the jury is still out.  If there is any truth to the Valdes story though, I'm not sure the club can be blamed in the circumstances for asking for the player to spend a few days at the training ground prior to spunking a ton of money on him.
