The thing about Lovren Lallana and Markovic is, Rodgers has really fucked up FSGs shit Moneyball wise. And to a certain extent Balotelli.

I suppose its vaguely possible that Markovic will deliver on the "investment", but cant see any upside in the other 2.

Its signings like that, that will do for Rodgers if anything.

He needs to be VERY careful in the window, if indeed he's given anything.

Lallana is a good buy ya poopyhead

There's no money ball potential though. That's his main point. But we'll be selling Lazar in 3 years for £75m. Guaranteed.

It's about value. If they give you a good enough return on the pitch it's value even if they don't eventually move on for profit.

If Lallana's a key part of the team for 5+ years he'll be worth the money even without a big fee at the end of it. If he's just a squad player who we sell on for 10 mill in a couple of years then it was a poor signing. Our big money British buys from mid table teams usually end up the latter at best.

Lambert was in no way moneyball. We'll never get anything back for him but if produced on the pitch for a year or two he'd be worth the money.

Markovic certainly could be because although £20m is a lot, the way the market is these days you can easily be worth double or triple that quickly if you start living up to that potential. If Barca or Real target you as their galactico for the summer then that can be a nigh on world record fee. That's the level of player we want to be producing when we sign potential. We managed it with Suarez.

Lovren was just a shocking buy for 20 million.

We should stop buying players from lower level premier league teams full stop because every time we do, we end up strengthening them just like what happened with Newcastle or whats happening this season with Southampton.

If we aren't going to close the gap on the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United the very least we can do is stop giving terms below us the necessary funds to compete with us.

ryan bertrand working out ok for southampton. he d walk into our team at the minute.

I wouldnt be writing off delph.

Lambert and Lovren worked out OK for Southampton, too.

Delph has been at Villa for a few years, and despite some early promise in his career, he's done fuck all. Now, after a few months of solid, if unspectacular performances in a shit Villa team, you think he might be of the required standard to push us back up the league?

I dont know enough about him but the uproar on here about the prospect of us signing bertrand in the summer and hes turned out to be one of the best left backs in the league this season.

What a load of shit. Every defender Rodgers signs end up looking bad in his team, whether they're starting centre backs for France, Spanish internationals or one of the best defenders in the league last year. These are good players. Ryan Bertrand, Ashley Williams and Ben Davies aren't.

In other teams Sakho, Moreno, Lovren would look a lot better. Bertrand's never looked good anywhere.

They can't be that bad, they're better than Pepe Reina apparently who was bombed out the club for Mignolet.

The problem was not the decision to replace Reina it was just that weren't prepared to go out and spend enough to get a better replacement. Begovic was widely discussed at the time probably would have been a much better option, Mig has fundamental weaknesses in his distribution and kicking and were self evident from the start. Why the fuck were we buying a keeper that was unsuited to tactics we play .You just don't take chances with suspect keepers and hope they will get better . Its absolutely basic stuff
