"Mrs Muhammad's age, number 6"

That's usually my cue to get on my high horse, but I had to snigger a bit at that (and stop myself from being a pompous dick - temporarily, at least).

"Mrs Muhammad's age, number 6"

Ace.

Im glad youve drawn attention to this issue, as a lib dem you should know a bit about child abuse.

If only you werent a lib dem youd be able to take the moral highground AND get away with the joke?

Since you see fit to label muslims or lecture them on peadophillia I thought, why go to that effort SD surely, going out your way to read religious texts when your an atheist, you should look closer to home, get your own party in order, then point the finger at others.

If you need help locating this evil in your party heres some reading,

As a progressive man its clear if the prophet mohhammed married a 6 year old a few centuries ago, his victim had more rights than any of the lib dem child abuse cover ups got, so light years ahead of your religion.

http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/oldham-pals-launch-share-ramadan-9465033

A group of Oldham friends are hoping to challenge negative stereotypes of British Muslims by sharing the message of Ramadan.

Nanu Miah, Hushiyar Ali and Kabir Ahmed from Westwood want to help 'eradicate racism' by spreading the message of what the holy month is about.

The pals launched a Share Ramadan campaign ahead of the start of the 30-day fast on Wednesday, June 17, which sees Muslims refrain from eating between sunrise and sunset.

The campaign encourages Muslims to invite friends, neighbours and colleagues of different faiths to fast for a day and then invite their guest to their homes to break the fast.

One of the brains behind the campaign, Hushiyar Ali, said: “A lot of people who are not from the Muslim faith really want to try it because they think we are bonkers for fasting for that long and not drinking water.

“But the whole idea of this is to create a dialogue between different people from different backgrounds and create a discussion about fasting and what it feels like.

“It’s about breaking down barriers, preconceptions and learning about other religions and values.”

All those who take up the Share Ramadan challenge are encouraged to take a picture of them sharing a meal and share it on social media using the hashtag ShareRamadan.

They can then nominate five other Muslim friends to take up the Share Ramadan challenge and invite guests into their homes.

“The key thing with this campaign is the personal touch of inviting people into your home,” Hushiyar said. “Because that is how people learn what it is to live as a British Muslim - by experiencing what we go through.”

Hushiyar hopes social media will also help the campaign, which is in its second year, spread around the world.

He said: “The idea is to make it go global, but at the same time focus on the three million Muslims in the UK.

“In this current climate of Islamaphobia there is a lot of negative press about Muslims, but we want to help eradicate things like racism.”

Ramadan will start in the UK on Wednesday and will end with Eid celebrations in mid July.

The Irish were my generation's bogeymen, the fact you can't see the irony of what you're posting is mindblowing.

I respect that you don't resort to name calling.  And I can also see why you draw a tenuous link between the two.  I'm just afraid I can't make the connection in the same way you do.

I don't see any irony. Irrespective of the evil of their actions, the IRA were acting rationally towards a rational end. They weren't randomly murdering unbelievers in order to establish global theocracy.

Meanwhile, the nutters have murdered tourists in Tunisia today too.

You're smarter than this. There's much more depth to if than that.

Eh?

So the IRA weren't catholics who killed protestants then? You can still get kneecapped for walking into the wrong pub in Belfast I'm told, they use power drills now though as bullets are too expensive. Loony ragheads indeed.

BEsides which the irony I was referring too was the poster's willingness to tar a whole group of people with teh same brush, as people often did with his countrymen.

Just got back from a couple of days business in Dubai, first time I've been there during Ramadan. Was mostly hosted by and meeting locals out there so had to follow the rules apart from a few occasions when we snuck some water in out of sight of people. Going from 40 degrees to air conditioning and back on a regular basis without being able to drink water is a lot more difficult than I thought, I could barely speak in some of the meetings. Fair play to them for that kind of discipline - I would not be happy doing a month of that

There were Protestants in the IRA & I'm sure there were Catholics caught up in their killings.

Your second point is spot on.

Well it wasn't a Hindu or Sikh who did it. Getting all too common for my liking. It's an intolerant, backward religion who thrive on a public who are generally too PC to say anything (see Rotherham).

You could easily be speaking about most of the USA with that statement.

I'm sure there were, but it was still religious conflict, I think it's fair to say.

My girlfriend's aunt and uncle are in Sousse at the moment, staying in a hotel near the beach. She isn't answering her mobile phone. I have a very worried girlfriend now.

Fingers crossed for them, maybe give the foreign office a call? I imagine the place is in some kind of lockdown which could explain the lack of communication. At the very least there'll be a lot of panic there I presume.
