It's great to see the older generation cranking out modern day hits of the youth.

I can imagine they wished they'd wrote it themselves.

X-Factor candidates in the making I'd say.

I'm putting a tenner on 'Journey' to make it big some day.

Google Kohoutek if you want a real eye opener on Journey -Liverpools own Aynsley Dunbar fresh from Zappas band and Rolie and Schon just out of Santana.

Soundgarden turns the concept on its head and delivers the anti-power ballad.

I'm out of reps, but this is very good... it's clearly not a rock ballad but has all the underpinnings of one...it's almost like they've put a rock ballad into Protools and assigned the wrong instruments to tracks and then chosen some moody lyrics!

It's genius in its cynicism and execution, eh?  And a great song in its own right.

So Power Ballads.

Rode home from the gym today with November Rain full whack through the headphones, belting it out at the top of my voice, leaning back on the seat to play the air guitar parts, while riding no-handed, bolts of lightning flashing around the South Florida sky.

I get home in a good mood.

I guess they're just tunes where you can forget your troubles and lose all sense of self-consciousness for a minute or two.

Yeah, but riding a bike with no hands into a wall can make you forget your troubles and lose all consciousness for more than a minute or two. Fine margins.
