Rihanna is set to take her new found love of football to the next level – by launching a bid to buy Liverpool. Seriously.

The pop queen entered our hearts during the World Cup in Brazil, by brilliantly live-tweeting matches and adding her own killer insight.

And amid reports that she has been looking to invest in an English football club, Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo says Liverpool are the team of choice.

The paper says she has been advised by close friend and Chelsea striker Didier Drogba to make an offer for the Anfield club.

Liverpool are currently owned by John W. Henry’s Fenway Sports Group and it’s unlikely that they’d want to sell, meaning Anfield may may be spared a Rihanna takeover.

Still, we so want this to happen. Just because.

Doesn't Lebron James own part of us too?

Yeah but the joint marketing activities that were supposed to earn us a fortune from China don't seem to have taken off yet. However Rihanna has millions of daft American teens waiting for her to tell them how to spend their ridiculous amounts of pocket money - we should take advantage

Not short of opinions on Twitter. To be honest she strikes me as being potential trouble. Not one of those who'll happily sit on the sidelines and let the players get on with it. What do you think she would favour? I'm guessing one up front and one in behind. Can leave you vulnerable but should get people excited.

Repped for the username and because Horus has just reminded me how much I hate that oxygen-thieving bastard
