So the line that defines a race is the finishing line. I've often wondered where the racial line between a white northern European Christian and a white northern European Jewish person is and thats before wondering where the line is everywhere else, how old is modern man, how old the borders between countries, how much migration from hunter gatherer to agricultural to industrial revolution.

It's amazing how supposedly complex issues often have such a simple answer staring us in the face.

If only there were a better way of settling disputes than the (starter's) gun.

Fire breaks out at Tehran oil refinery

Massive plumes of thick, poisonous black smoke rose over Tehran on Wednesday after a refinery located outside the city caught fire in the latest in a series of mysterious industrial accidents that have struck Iran.

Hours earlier, Iran’s largest naval warship caught fire and sank in the Gulf of Oman, news agencies reported. The entire crew safely disembarked from the naval support and training ship Kharg, but “all efforts to save the vessel were unsuccessful and it sank”, one report said.

Man and lover sentenced to death for adultery

Iran will sentence a husband and his lover to death for adultery after the man's father-in-law insisted they die, according to reports.

The man's wife is said to have given police video clips of her husband's infidelity early this year, but also appealed for him and his mistress to be spared the ultimate penalty, local media reports.

It was the wife's dad who demanded the pair be executed and a court found in his favour, Shargh Daily reports.

Under Iran's form of Sharia law the victim's family can forgive the accused and their sentence can be reduced from death to a pardon or jail sentence.

Adultery is a capital crime in Iran following the interpretation of Sharia law installed after the country's Islamic revolution in 1979.

The original law made the crime punishable by stoning, but Tehran modified this in 2013 and judges can now order alternative methods - usually hanging.
