Just started this. Class.

I’m one and a half seasons in so I’m not reading any more posts on this thread for a while.

It’s pretty addictive, though so far the characters are uniformly awful in their ruthlessness. Says a lot about it that it remains utterly compelling, though.

I love the music that plays over the final scene, though I hate the next episode spoilers in the end credits.

Just finished the first series of this, absolutely fucking stupendous. Does make me wonder if they have police in Naples but it's brilliant viewing.

My Firestick is asking for £2.99 to watch series two and I'm more than happy to pay it.

I'm also going to start calling people strunz.

There is a movie as well.

A bit different from the series, but just as good, and in some respects even better.

There's two films.

There's the one before the series which I assume you mean and yeah well worth watching. Grittier and smaller scale.

Then there's L' Immortale which fills inbetween the last couple of seasons.

Suburra also had a film first before the series as did Romanzo Criminale.

All well worth watching.

Why the fuck haven't you watched the series till now then?

It was on Sky or HBO or something, which I've never had.

Only got a Firestick recently & a mate mentioned the first series was free on Pluto TV a couple of weeks back.

It took me until 2015 to start watching The Sopranos so this is not bad for me.

Enjoy then. I'm years behind on loads of classic telly myself. Didn't see The Wire or Sopranos till way after they finished.

First 4 series are absolutely superb. Really fucking good. Might watch it again actually.

I fell out with it after series 4.

Personally I'd have seasons 1-4 as up there in the greatest ever category.

In retrospect season 5 was a bit of a let down, I kept on thinking genny must have something up his sleeve here.

Saying there there still some great scenes (pissing in front of genny, the casino scene)and great characters ,the monk.

I do think it was a mistake bringing a certain character back, especially in a show where literally everyone was offed

Just re reading through the thread

Lots of stuff about unlikeable characters but that's the whole point, you have to be an utter cunt to survive in that lifestyle.

It was really clever in the 1st season where you initially side with with ciro and realise about half way through is an utter monster.

Genny is a great character but that bit with Patrizia was utterly brutal.

I listened to an excellent review of it once where it said all the characters in it were trapped, even those at the top.

It's not often I watch a show twice but this is definitely one of them.

I've just started season 3, when should I watch the movies?

The original film was based on a few bits from the original book and doesn't really cross over at all and is a lot closer to the original real world stories of the book.

The Immortal film is essentially a prequel to season 5.

Put the first episode, of the first series, on late this afternoon and I’ve just gone to bed after finishing episode 10. Fuck me, talk about to the bone and building to a climax.
Calling it gripping, is doing it a disservice and the way they have you siding with a character in one episode and in the next, they’re a total twat, is letting-downly brilliant. I don’t trust any of them, no wonder there are some many deaths in real life.

Glad to to say it had subtitles and it made it even better.

Can’t wait for later.
