Dejan Lovren

Recommended Posts

We have no defensive set up at all, a terrible keeper and weak centre mids with no holding player.

I think he is terrible but our defenders don't have much chance to be honest.

Klopp has shown no competence in setting up a defence

It seems we need 5 leaders at thr back ajd a holder who know how to do it all them selves

I do agree with the bit in bold.

But, that first goal had nothing to do with that. He missed a ball in the 6 yard box - coming at him, as good an example of run of the mill defending you are likely to see.

In his last six games for us, he has made an error against Boro that should have led to a penalty and a sending off (in an important game), gave a penalty away against Hoffenheim (another important game), error that led to a goal at home (important game again), and on Wednesday air shot leading to a goal (important game).

I think we can all live with an error every now and again, we know that he has the propensity to do this. But, he is doing this every single game now!

Completely agree, his head has completely gone.  How can you be falling over in the 6 yard box?

no one  talks either, imagine carra playing now, he would probably just explode.

Yep. Leadership is an issue - i'm not as down on Henderson as others, but in this regard he is next to fucking useless. Mistakes happen, that doesn't mean you clap the intention if a ball is passed out of play, or a player goes missing!

Someone needs to fucking scream 'get your fucking head together' there has to be a couple of moaners.

Catch 22 at the moment, Lovren needs to be dropped - but Klavan is nowhere near good enough for first team. Klopp needed Lovren to step up, he put his reputation on the line for him - and, he's been given this shit. I want Gomez and Matip and Milner or TAA at right back.

But what I want means fuck all!

There is no someone at the moment,  Milner is the only possible option right now and he is pretty much out of favour with Klopp. The debate about Henderson is pointless until there is a better alternative although I do agree he is no natural leader and fails to lead by example.

Along with the defence it's another area that has been neglected since Stevie stepped down.

The club has been guilty of hoping players will grow into their roles rather than recognising the likes of Henderson  and Lovren are as good as they will be and failing to act decisively,

This precedes klopp in all fairness. We haven't had that leader since Suarez and Gerrard went, as I say, I was fuming when Moreno turned to clap Lovren on Wednesday when he put a simple ball out of play!

I don't think Milner has fallen out per se. He is where he should be - on the bench. Lovren is just pathetic at the moment, and as usual what we hoped wouldn't happen has actually happened and is a lot worse. Keita isn't a leader either, so what we are going to do is anybody's guess.

We are just too nice.

I don't think the main problem are the tactics. Our system does a decent job of limiting chances. The problem is that the few chances teams get are all really good ones because of individual fuck-ups or lack of concentration and Lovren is a usually a culprit on both counts.

Taking 5 painkillers before every match to get through it. Can't train. As well as being rubbish it was obvious his body wasn't up to it last year.

Where'd you hear that?  Any chance it's terminal or the prospect of at least long-term disability?

With the way he plays, you sure it's not 5 Xanax?

He'd fucking punch out Moreno and Lovren, and get sent off.... but it'd be worth it/cheered as he headed off the pitch.

When we have to resort to this, with a player that isn't good enough when fit, it says everything about the position we've put ourselves in.

Big fan of Klopp but the mistake not to add both quality and depth to our defence will really cost us.

What about the pain us fans go through watching him defend?

Maybe we should all be taking 5 painkillers to dull his shitness.

I dunno what's worse. Watching him defending or blabbing off to the media.

Bit surprised at the club letting this info out about the painkillers. Surely it gives oppos information to target him even more during games?

Wasn't it Lovren talking to reporters back in Croatia...nothing club can do once he has done it.

He should know better/be told not to talk in first place i suppose.

I have no idea what he get's by revealing this to the media. An easy ride when he fucks up next?

So people make allowances and he appears to be battling through the pain barrier.

    • I think you’re underestimating just how good Owen was. European footballer of the year. Drogba was ace too of course.
    • If we sign this guy now and the a first choice midfielder (Bellingham, Tchouaméni, whoever) and maybe Carvalho, then before sales, I think the squad is more or less set for next season.
    • A couple of opinions from the Porto fans...   "literally the best player of the last 10 years. sold for almost a third of the value of João Felix."   "Happy life and shit from Lisbon are for 60, or 120 million, here? 45 million and our best player gone, slapstick comedy. If he's to go at this ridiculous price at least force Liverpool to have to leave him here until the summer."   "As incompetent as our board is, I always thought that about 60 million plus 5-10 ain dd ons was the minimum to sell Diaz. Turns out, they managed to surprise me."   "I just want to let out a scream waking up the whole neighbourhood, fuck it, what a pain."   Is this the way we're going to go? Are we possibly going to risk the season for 45 million? Selling the best player in this league by far for a measly 45 million? Is João Feliz worth almost 3 Diaz's? In a year in which, although it is difficult to win the Europa League, we can have strong aspirations, are we going to give a shit about that and the possible strong financial income that winning the Europa could bring us? This direction is shit, but to be honest, this is just ridiculous, I've never felt so angry. We'll give up everything so Diaz can eat the bank for the rest of the season."   "As good as he is, a player who leaves mid-season because he prefers another club will never have my respect."   "These players these days don't have any backbones either. Leaving a team and a club (which gave him a lot) midway through a season in the name of a contract that was more than guaranteed in the summer shows a total lack of character. They are puppets of entrepreneurs. They don't deserve half the fawning they receive from the fans. Edit: But this is an aside because, as I said in other comments, this situation is all the fault of the cancers who make these decisions and who accept us selling the club's best asset for a plate of lentils. It is upon them that the wrath of the fans must fall."
    • I'm far from a fan of FSG but if this is a thing I don't really think you can kick off about them signing someone who is highly rated that potentially really improves our attack a lot.   Personally, I've only seen Luis Diaz when he played us and I didn't see a huge amount to be impressed, he was quick and the pundits and commentators raved about him being dangerous but he really didn't seem to actually do anything with the ball. That said his goal scoring record is reasonable for his age and if anyone can do something to make him special it's Klopp, Salah, Mane and Jota were all scoring goals but not massively standing out and look what he did with them.   If it's true that Origi and Minamino might be going and we're potentially almost swapping them out for this guy I don't really see an issue with that.   A set of attackers comprising Mane, Salah, Jota, Firmino and this guy, plus the option of the likes of Jones, Elliott and Gordon to slot in for cup games seems pretty decent to me. Mane can play either wing, Jota can play in any of the 3 positions and Salah can play right or up top (didn't he also play left wing at Roma?) so you can use 5 players, rotate quite a bit and keep them fresh and also hopefully keep them all happy game wise by actually treating the cups as something worth bothering with.
    • Breaking news LFC confirm there wasn't enough time to seal the deal in the January window and will consider other options in the summer....
