We bought a player, for a high price tag - who'd had about 6 months of playing really, really well in his entire career.  I'm not sure what we expected, it's embarrassing that he starts ahead of Sakho.  It's embarrassing that we sold Agger for £3 and paid £20m for him.

Lovren will be class in time. The problem isn't Lovren, the problem is who he partners in the long term.

 

Sakho and Skrtel can be brilliant or hilarious, depending on the day. Can't have that in a top team.

I was really hoping he would be a real commanding leader at the back that we need.

So far he looks very rash and seems a really bad reader of the game.

I'd prefer defenders to stand their ground and intercept and win Their battles without having to go to ground all the time.

Another huge outlay on (so far) a disappointing player. I'd gladly have Agger and Skrtel as out first choice pair than Lovren and Sakho. Pity Agger was dumped out of the club and now we're lumbered with inferior defenders.

Even Sami, wouldn't be Sami in this system.  Sami always had a good defensive midfielder in front of him, and a manager who didn't defending was for wools.

Lovren will come good, he has looked shakey and made some mistakes but I have faith he'll be alright in the end.

I miss Didi. Don't get me wrong I miss Mascher too but he didn't get us like Didi. If we're not gonna blow teams out the water we might as well get a proper DM and give out defenders a chance.

Maybe he's been poor because the system highlights his weaknesses instead of playing to his strengths ?  Or maybe he is shite.  Or a bit of both.

It's a big test of character for him now.  He either show he's got a pair and rises to it, or lurches off into obscurity.  But it's not just him, all our CBs need to shape up.  And fucking sharpish too, buying a fix isn't an option right now.

But the system has to be sorted, because we've attained a habit of buying expensive centre backs and making them look crap.  It's not all down to the players.

It's fucking ridiculous that despite spending 20ish million each on two centre halves that you would hardly call shit before arriving that we are still in disarray at the back. That's despite us having 2 centre halves already at the club who may not have been the greatest but you wouldn't call them shite either.

 

If we are going to continue playing a system that concedes swathes of goals the least the manager can do is bring in a proper specialist DM as loads of people were calling for in the summer, waiting for our injury prone striker to come back in to mitigate our leaky defence is absolute dogshit.

A tear in the abdominal wall, out for both of their Euro qualifiers according to liverpool.no. That probably rules him out of the QPR game too. Shame, as QPR would be the perfect opponents to gain some confidence from facing.
