He is fit for retirement...or Saudi Arabia and Mexico, which is pretty much the same. Might as well have signed a cleaning lady. Could have a future in futsal though. Maybe Tony Khan is considering starting a futsal team, after wrestling. That would explain this signing. Or maybe he was signed because of the raising of Lazarus biblical story (not sure if TK is aware of that one), a symbolic fight against relegation? Either way, I find no football explanation for this transfer.

When confronted with professional footballers who look to be Shit, I always to try keep in mind that they're going to be better than that lad you knew back in school who routinely ripped opponents apart and was going to play for his country yet, despite a lot of talk about scouts sniffing around him, never got anywhere near making a living from the game. Markovic might be the player who trumps that logic. He's just Shit and is stealing a living.

Really weird player. Looked fucking excellent for Benfica - strong, fast, plenty of quality on the ball. Showed flashes of it here like that shot against the bar against Sunderland but just didn't seem arsed about playing football at all.

Matic was asked about him as a fellow Serbian when he signed for us, and if I remember, that's basically what he said; talented kid, doesn't give a fuck.
