How Good Is Markovic

Markovic's explosive dashes have become a trademark of his game, as the back lines of Sporting Lisbon and Belenenses found out.

When Markovic is in full flight, opposing defenders are often laboring to keep up with the Serbian's shadow, giving you an idea of how quick he is with the ball.

While he is elusive and can evade tackles, he is direct and will generally go for goal.

He scored a pivotal goal against Gil Vicente which engineered a late comeback in a 2-1 win.

In a 2-0 win over Porto, Markovic accelerated deep into Porto's defensive half, forced several of their players out of position and then played a perfect through-ball to team-mate Rodrigo, who lashed the ball past Porto goalkeeper Helton.

From a technical point of view, Markovic is a world-class player, which was displayed when he dinked the ball over Vitoria Guimaraes goalkeeper Douglas, ran around him, controlled the ball and walked it over the line for a goal.

Not sure how credible that Tor-Kristian Karlsen fella is but saw someone mention him the other day. On Markovic:

@karlsentk: I've followed his career since making Partizan debut, talent and potential obvious from the point of breaking into the first team (1/5)

@karlsentk: Top European sides were monitoring him back then, most of those impressed by his great ability though some concerns re "frail" physique(2/5)

@karlsentk: In terms of potential there's no doubt in my mind that Markovic is among the top 3-5 greatest talents in European football (3/5)

@karlsentk: Main characteristics: great ability on the ball (close control, touch), explosive/very quick in one vs one situations, intelligent (4/5)

@karlsentk: Transfer fee may seem high but if player develops according to expectations/potential, he could (should) be worth x2 in 18-24 months (5/5)
