I previously thought Sourdough is over rated poncy bread but my wife bought M&S Rye Sourdough and it is delicious. Perfect toastie bread with marmite and a soft cheese such as Port Salut or Camembert. Groin wreckingly tasty.

Visited a mate in Bristol at the weekend and right outside his house is a food truck. Had an absolutely immense cheese and ham sourdough toastie, made on a hot plate, Saturday morning which I’m still digesting now. Had to stop halfway through for a little pause as well. Sublime.

Couldn't agree with you more, I tried it for the first time toasted a few weeks ago and it's delicious.

How the fuck do you taste anything else when marmite is involved.

The best bread is still warm from the oven and slathered with quality butter. Nothing else necessary.

Once it's cold add cheese. Once it's old, toast it with cheese.

On the contrary; marmite enhances the taste of other foods.
