Couldn't possibly be any less suited to playing as the deepest midfielder.

Doesn't read the game very well, sloppy in possession, acceleration of an articulated lorry, frequently makes the wrong decision...

He just can't play that deeper role as he's a liability, it is no coincidence that he performs better in a natural CM position with someone better cleaning his fuck ups up.

Yeah. The further away from our goal he is the better. He strikes the ball well, he's quite inventive, and he can power past players. I just don't understand him playing the position he did today.

Lads, from Jan to may last year he was in our top 3 performers. He's played in that position and played well,Dortmund especially and ran the show at home to villareal. He does, however, need a run of games, normally,to get upto speed. He,along with wijnaldum and lallana were way off the pace today though. He'll be a well used player by klopp over the next few years.

on Saturday, there was moment when Lallana and Firmino had the ball on the left...Can made a good run on the outside, only for the two to ignore him.  Seemed a moment to say that they don't trust him for all the reasons stated above - poor first touch, poor judgment, slow in mind, basically not on the same wavelength as the rest of the team...

Emre's a perfectly good squad player if he could accept that role...a bit of a Nigel Spackman to Ginnie's Whelan.

Biggest disappointment today (Lucas Leiva is not a disappointment; he's an inevitability). Thats the sort of game you expect Can, given the relative rest he's had & the absence of Henderson and tiredness of Wijnaldum, to come into and help the team out. Instead, he was another liability. Agree he'd be a good squad player as part of the 2 midfield options on the bench -- but unless he ups his consistency remarkably his performances don't suggest a player good enough to be in the team frequently.

Hows he a good squad player if you can't rely on him to step in and perform?

What like against city?

today wasn't down to him. we scored 2 goals and gave away 2 stupid pens. I thought he had an assist for Mane's goal but he didn't get the points for it in ff.

people have it in for him since the mistaken identity issue in the city game.

was playing with a hangover? defo first half.

He's Bobby's new DD.

In all seriousness though I thought he was poor today but the team as a whole were clearly tired from Saturday. For me a big issue with Can at times is that he tries to do too much on his own and it ends up with certain areas being more compacted than they need too. I'm also not a huge fan of his shooting from range but I suppose if you don't take them you can never start to score them so that's not a huge issue for me all things considered.
