I think given time he would make a good centre half in a 2. He's too easy to isolate when he plays full back or as one of the wide centre backs in a 3.

 

If you played him alongside someone who was quick in a 2 it would be great for him. All the play is in front of him so he can pick his passes and carry the ball, he doesn't have to worry about quick turns like he does in midfield and he's got that calming influence that would take charge in a back four.
