He was pressing their defenders up until the last minute, and at one point forced them to go back to Howard just as they were trying to commit more men forward. Unfortunately, he was the only one doing so. Sterling and Coutinho had dropped back and I'm not sure what Lambert was doing or whether he was asked to sit back too.

His energy was a definite plus when you consider he'd played the entire game in midweek too, and he is always looking to make things happen. It's not come off for the most part but there are signs that he's getting better. Playing alongside Gerrard and Henderson in a midfield 3 and being the one with greater licence to join the attack is going to make best use of him at the moment. I'd rather he's not involved with England in the upcoming internationals, but that goes for all our England players.

Seems to be getting better with us. He's getting more involved in attack and defence and that was good to see.

Not everyone is gonna hit the ground running, and it is a bit frustrating that he's come from the same league and Rodgers bought him because he should fit in easily, but everyone needs a bit of time and he did miss the first few games.

I like what I see so far, he's getting there. See how he does with Balotelli and Sturridge in front of him before you write him off. This is not our first 11 yet.

Id much prefer he actually did something telling on the pitch. You know, like making a couple of killer passes or creating an opening for someone else.

Have to say I think we've spunked 23 mill on him

I see what you did there. You took a statement about his energy and work ethic and made it a bad thing. Good for you.
