Mignolet

That.

Also Reina took the piss, all that eye fluttering at Barca basically telling us as soon as they come in for him he's off, he wasn't as good as he was and he wasn't committed to us anymore or motivated, just look what he's doing now for proof of motivation, sitting on his arse with no chance of playing.

Rodgers done the right thing getting rid but yet again the club completely botched signing a replacement, Begovic is made for a top PL club, he's been unlucky with Mancini getting sacked and that Wengers got a fascination with dodgy young goalkeepers.

This is exactly what I was talking about and you are completely wrong. It is only right to get rid of a player when you know that you can replace them with someone better.

I know, it really shouldn't have been hard to do as Reina wasn't a very good goalkeeper anymore but surprise surprise the club cocked a transfer up again.

Liverpool: Simon Mignolet has been exposed - Grobbelaar

Goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is one of the main reasons Liverpool are struggling this season, according to former Reds number one Bruce Grobbelaar.

Grobbelaar, who won six league titles with Liverpool from 1984-1991, believes the Belgian's "weaknesses have been exposed" this season.

The Reds have conceded 18 goals and are 12th in the Premier League table.

Grobbelaar said the 26-year-old's main problem is his lack of authority in his own penalty area.

Mignolet has made 31 saves this season, with two clean sheets from 12 Premier League matches

"He doesn't command his area," the 57-year-old told BBC Sport.

"I've likened Mignolet to worse than Dracula because at least Dracula comes out of his coffin now and then. He seems to stay on his line and that's it. That whole area, not just the six-yard area, is the goalkeeper's."

Goalkeeping legend Peter Schmeichel last month defended Mignolet following criticism from his former Manchester United team-mate Gary Neville.

He accused Neville of a "character assassination" on Mignolet following his performance in the Merseyside derby against Everton.

Liverpool finished second in the Premier League table last season, two points behind champions Manchester City, but the Reds are currently 12th in this season's campaign.

Uruguay striker Luis Suarez, 27, was sold to Barcelona in the summer and England international Daniel Sturridge, 25, has made only three appearances this season because of injury problems.

"Any team that lets in 52 [50] goals should never be in second position in the first place," the former Zimbabwe international added.

"That was masked and brushed over because of the brilliance of Suarez and Sturridge, scoring you so many goals.

"You have got to shore up the back. Get yourself someone in goal who can actually only let in 30 goals a season, or fewer than 30 goals."

Mignolet is not a bad keeper, but he doesn't command the area, and his distribution isn't good enough. Some of the criticism is a bit over the top here.

But, we need a keeper who is dominant and can do these things. He is regrettably a factor in our defensive problems. I remember the years before Reina where we went from James, to a younger and less accomplished Friedel, to Kirkland and Dudek, before Reina and came in and basically showed us what a difference a top keeper makes.

We need to sign someone, preferably in January.

Ha, Brucie comparing mignolet and dracula says even the cout came out of his coffin whereas mig doesnt come out of the 6 yard box.

Mignolet does have an aversion to getting it where it hurts but he can (should) use his hands when going in at a strikers feet.

That goal against him at west ham was a fucking joke. Some refs will protect some keepers. Schmichel got a free kick in the box if a striker so much as looked at him which given his size, was a bit of a joke.

That said, I didnt think mignolet was at fault on any of the goals at palace. Yep, one came from a wayward free kick that went out for a throw in on the half way line but you still be able to defend a throw in from there.
