I liked Daredevil and can't understand why it gets so much shit. One thing about that film though is that there's a scene (where he arrives in a bar and it's chaos, etc.) where I first thought something like "wow, these superhero films really can grow up and move on to the next level."

 

I didn't get it with the Batman trilogy for the first time because I'd already had that moment with Daredevil. Even if it was mostly shit and I think that when watching back (it's been years.) I'll still always respect it for that moment. It might be cheesy and not that good when watching back, but it just got me at the time and I'd never really believed it (that these films really can work and have a genuine edge to them.) before.

 

Maybe most of the stuff I'd watched up until that moment was simply shit and overly cheesy, not sure. At least the bar has been raised several levels higher now anyway so we don't have to suffer such low standards.

Street Hawk was fucking epic! Liked it better than Airwolf I think.

 

Even looking forward to the X-Men film too because I've seen Colossus in a clip of it and am just hoping he gets a bit more of a part to play. He's always been neglected and it's pissed me off every time. Maybe it's political because he's Russian? I never underestimate the cuntishness of hollywood if I can help it and wouldn't be surprised at all if it was the case.

From my perspective he just wore lots of make up & licked his lips a lot.

 

As for these new films, I think they take themselves a bit too seriously, I'd rather watch the Christopher Reeve Superman & Michael Keaton Batman myself, mind you I stopped reading the comic books round about then too.

Agree with all that, I think Ledger's Joker was class, but I think much of the credit stems from it being so unexpectedly good, as I imagine most people thought 'what the fuck?' When he was cast - I reckon Affleck will have a similad coup de gras.

 

Agree about them taking themselves seriously. The Superman reboots are bollocks, he's been turned into Wolverine.
