Rooney should be in the middle behind sturridge if he has to play. I think he should bench him for thursday though and id put gerrard behind sturridge with sterling and lallana on the wings. Henderson and lampard behind.

Manc bias aside, Welbeck was good yesterday, the criticism is harsh, he was out there to recycle possession and help out the front line and he did that very well. Rooney on the other hand barre that one pass was clueless, and deserves a pillaring not least for that corner, you wouldn't see that in a sunday league game.

I've rarely seen him play well either, but it's possibly because I've only seen him play for Uruguay and he's maybe intimidated by Forlan and Luis? Either that or because there's Forlan and Luis he doesn't get to play as the main striker where he's best. If it's not either of those two, no idea.
