100 years ago RIGHT NOW the legendary Russian mystic and close adviser to the Imperial family, Grigori Rasputin, was being murdered. Furious at his influence over the Tsar and his wife, leading aristocratic figures at court planned to invite Rasputin out for a social gathering and then kill him.

Things did not go as planned. He was poisoned, shot four times, badly beaten and eventually drowned in the Neva River in St Petersburg.
