When you consider how badly the Natives of the US are still treated and the fact that 50 years ago they didn't have free elections for everyone you would think they wouldn't have the balls to continually demand free and fair election everywhere else

1981: Muhammad Ali talked a despondent 21 year old out of committing suicide. A young man with psychiatric problems stood on a 9th floor window ledge threatening to jump. Police negotiators and psychiatrists talked to him for over two hours but had made no progress. As if it were a scene in a movie Mohammad Ali, former heavyweight champion, arrived to help. The boxing great climbed out the window next to the confused and frightened man. Ali told the man that they were “brothers” and that he was there to help. Miraculously Ali managed to convince the young man to come back inside. He was then taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.

David Purley tries in vain to gather assistance to rescue Roger Williamson at the 1973 Dutch Grand prix.

Theres video of that on youtube, the sheer anguish and frustration in Purleys actions is heartbreaking. When he realises he can't get Williamson out by himself, he tries to flag down other drivers as they're the only other ones wearing flameproof suits, and could have helped. Marshalls weren't issued with that kind of gear then, but they were after this incident.

This may be up there with the saddest pictures I've ever seen. We can only imagine the levels of poverty that would drive someone to do something like this.
