The view from Liverpool: The five reasons why the Reds WILL win the title

By DAVID USHER

PUBLISHED: 14:02, 4 April 2014 UPDATED: 15:55, 4 April 2014

Predicting who'll end victorious in this season's title race is easier said than done. Manchester City are favourites, but Liverpool and Chelsea are right in it. So, we've asked fan websites of the three teams to convince us why it'll be their team lifting the Premier League trophy next month. Here is David Usher from the Liverpool Way who reveals the five reasons why Brendan Rodgers will land the Reds' first league title since 1990.

1) It's in their own hands

Win their remaining six games and Liverpool will be Champions. They have won their last eight so what’s another six?

Not only have they been winning games, but they’ve often been destroying the opposition. And when it has been close, Liverpool have still found a way to win.

Winning six in a row isn’t easy, but it won’t be easy for Chelsea either, and tougher still for City who need to win eight.

The question is who looks best equipped to win all their remaining games? At this moment, it has to be Brendan Rodgers’ men.

High fives: The Liverpool players know that if they win their remaining six matches they'll win the league title

2) Firepower

Liverpool’s current goals per game ratio is the best of any English team since the Second World War, they’re scoring at an unprecedented level, even by Liverpool’s own high standards of the past.

Even when teams have scored three goals against the Reds they’ve still lost. On three occasions already in 2014 Liverpool have conceded three goals but won the game anyway.

Goal machine: Luis Suarez has bagged 29 league goals this season, while the Red have scored 88 times

3) Anfield

Both City and Chelsea still have to go to Anfield where Liverpool have taken maximum points in all but two fixtures this season.

The Reds gave as good as they got in the away fixtures with both their title rivals only to suffer from some contentious officiating.

Liverpool were without Daniel Sturridge for both games, but he will hopefully be available for both games at Anfield.

Providing the Premier League don’t decide to wheel out Howard Webb for one or (heaven forbid) both games, Liverpool will be strong favourites to beat both City and Chelsea at fortress Anfield.

These games will most likely decide the destination of the title.

Bonus: Daniel Sturridge missed the defeats against City and Chelsea - if fit, he'll have an impact against them

4) Momentum

As the season has gone on, Liverpool have gotten stronger and become increasingly prolific in front of goal, whereas both City and Chelsea have began to stutter.

Something has been happening at Liverpool in the last couple of months, a momentum started to build and with it came a growing belief and expectation that we were about to witness something monumental.

It’s the same feeling that was there in 2005 when the Reds became European Champions.

Momentum: Liverpool's run of eight straight wins has seen them rocket back into contention for the title

5) Steven Gerrard

'Have you ever seen Gerrard win the league?' is the taunt of Chelsea fans. 'Giggsy 12, Gerrard 0' sing Manchester United.

It’s a travesty that a player as great as the Liverpool skipper doesn’t have a Premier League winners medal to complete his set, and it looked as though time had ran out on his dream as Liverpool floundered between 6-8th place.

The dream is now within reach, and the mere thought of Gerrard getting his hands on that trophy… well I’m getting chills just thinking about it.

Time to ram those taunts down their throats, Stevie.

Finally time? Steven Gerrard is still missing a Premier League winners' medal - can he put an end to that?

All smiles: Gerrard will hope to finally put an end to rival fan taunts over his lack of a league title winners' medal

ESPN, The Mail... soon it will be "sorry about the late match report again, forumites.  And apologies also for my fleeting presence on here recently - my other media commitments have been keeping me busy.  But rest assured, I will be back up to speed soon and am grateful for your generous patience.  Dave."

I see this shit form a mile off - it's a Jedi trait.

The article is spot on, out of all the possible champions, LFC are more likely to win all their remaining games than both City and Chelsea. Both City and Chelsea must know this deep down.

Yes we have got to take things one game at a time, but it is doable.
