Welcome to the new and improved TLW!

Some of you may experience issues logging in and will get an 'incorrect password' error. Don't worry, you haven't typed it in wrong and your password hasn't been changed. You will need to reset it though in order to log in. Click the reset password link and you will receive an email with your new temporary password. Once logged in, you need to choose a new password (or restore to your old one) otherwise you will be locked out again.

If you have an out of date email address linked to your account, then you won't receive the new password. If that's the case then you'll need to email me (dave @liverpoolway.co.uk) or send me a tweet @theliverpoolway and I'll update your password manually.

Any other problems or questions just let me know.

Thanks

Dave

When I first read this I thought he was spot on, but then thought who is he to comment on people's careers. It's like Barry George calling somebody an oddball.

By that logic what are any of us even doing here commenting on anything to do with football.

Barton's generally off his head but he's right about Rooney lacking the drive and focus to get anywhere near a Ballon D'or

It's got fuck all to do with lacking drive and focus. At the top end it is all about natural ability coupled with composure. Rooney has some of that but he will never get close to Ronaldo. How could he? The lad is the best player in the world.

Oh yeah Barton is still a complete cunt.

Everyone has their own definition of world class, according to yours messi was not world class this season and Im sure ronaldos had off days aswell.

Mine is if your in the top few players in the world in your position or you are good enough to play in any side, glen fits into both these categories for me.

So, how does a player become one the best in the world in his position without consistency? It may be ok to show your a great player 20% of the time, but does doing it 20% of the time still get you in any side? To me, it shows that he has the talent but not the mentality to do it every week. World Class players show it 80-100% of the time. World Class players can still have off days. So Messi & Ronaldo aren't World Class this season? !!!!!!!!!!!!! Your off your fucking head.

People who use philosophy and the writings of philosophers to show how smart they are supposed to be are the kind of people who thinks philosophy is something worth reading to evolve mentally. In short, self-congratulatory cunts.

Why not read something that's useful instead? Sure, it's nice enough to know whatever these old dead men once wrote to serve themselves as the megalomaniacal twats they were, but it has very little relevance to modern society and is mostly just a way to make higher education more miserable than it should be.

Five better right backs in world football, this is easy. Lahm, Alves, Ivanovic, Zabaletta and Sagna right off the top of my head. Coleman's better than him in the premier league. Not even mentioning Rafinha, Gregory Van der Wiel and the polish guy for Dortmund. It could be argued that Flanagan is better than Johnson as far as right backs go.

Rooney is the best player for Man United, not top 5, top 1. He's also from a team sheet point of view the second best England player to Steven Gerrard (although Sturridge is a better striker than him).

Flanagan is better? after 20 games? Fuck off.

He had a bit of talent, and he pissed it away. Same as that City youngster we were linked with a few years back. Was being compared to a young Gerrard, but turned fat instead. Can't remember the Cartman wannabe's name.

Crikey. Better put that book down and crack on with washing the car and getting to B&Q and getting Sky on. It is Sunday after all. Where's that Haynes manual?

Barton has fucked his career up countless times though when he knows the consequences clearly.

As a fan we can give an opinion and say a player should knuckle down and work hard as that's what we would do in that position but Barton saying it is a pisstake as he has been in that position and wasted his potential because of his own stupidness.

Do both. Read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

Joey Barton could have played for Barcelona and won 3 Champions Leagues, also been better than every England player over the last 12 years. He chooses to play in the Championship for a team struggling for promotion as that is a bigger challenge and less mainstream.
