Liverpool are hoping to hijack Manchester United’s move for Juventus star Arturo Vidal by matching their £42.5million bid for the player.

United have made Vidal their top transfer target this summer and reports today suggested that the club were confident of landing him with a mega bid.

However, the Chilean press now report that Liverpool have firmly entered the race for the player and are set to lodge an offer worth £42.5million.

I would quite like us to sign Vidal.

You where spot on,do you think the blues will cough up the 31m for Lakaku,or do you think Bill will be down the George's hall trying to sign the giant grandma, she could be the new Brett Angel.

Did these suspicions originate in your post?

More importantly, MirrorFootball understands there are fears at the Turin club that a midfielder who relies on such mobility could struggle to recover fully from an injury to his right knee that was sustained last season.

Universidad de Chile's team doctor, Alejandro Orizola, labelled the operation that patched him up for Brazil "a hasty procedure" at the time, and claimed that "it would always bring with it a regression in his final recovery."

I know everyone loves Vidal but I personally think there's more risk there than most fans think.

He has a style of tackling that he gets away with in Italy but half the time he goes in I think to myself "If Clattenburg or Dowd saw a player in a red shirt do that it would certainly be a foul."  Now, maybe he'd be able to adjust and he just does it because he gets away with it there but I think it would be a concern, at any rate.

On the other hand, a midfield of Gerrard, Henderson and Vidal would be excellent for the big games, so maybe you should just ignore me.

Isco would be perfect and would make sense if it wasn't for Adam Lallana, this ship has sailed I'm afraid BUT I still think we should bid regardless beacuse he's a phenomenal player and pisses all over Premier League Team of the Season midfielder, England international, Southampton FC captain and "great tidy little player" Adam L.

I am near convinced we are going to buy another player. I have'nt heard Rodgers nor nobody else at the club for that matter iterate otherwise.

We had better buy another player, Preferably a LB that is left footed and doesn't spend most of the season in the treatment room. No fucking point in getting Isco, Vidal or any other fucker if we don't address the fact we are shit at the back

Isco plays a lot on the left, I could see him playing left side, Sturridge central and Sterling right. Markovic and Remy supporting those front 3 with Lallana and Coutinho also being able to play there but mainly playing deeper in midfield. Lambert is the option to change the game if we're drawing at home and teams are sitting on the 6 yard box or to hold it up and play some through balls away from home when we're under pressure

That's got pace, skill, passing, creativity and goals everywhere. Imagine bringing Remy or Markovic on at 70 mins when we're 1 nil up and the games opening up

I realise we've got little chance of getting Isco but think we will get another player for the front 3
