However if van Persie is out for a long period, as rumours suggest, then all they've really done is replace him.

 

What they haven't done is address their lightweight midfield or their porous defence.

 

They have some top players and have enough there now to get them going. They will be a different team once they have everyone back. with their new signings They are able to throw cash around them and although they might not be going now. I think once they do get going(and they will) they will be decent. And if needed they will spend again in January.

 

My hope is that they take time to gel and by xmas have left themselves too much to do to get into the Top 4.

They won't be anything like us last season. Based on the fact that their players are on a downward trajectory their best years are behind them and have won enough in their careers that the hunger isn't really there. There isn't enough pace in that team to blow teams away like we did either. Plus their manager is an ugly bellend with no chin who thinks he's reinvented the wheel by playing a shit formation which is not conductive to league football.
