Apparently Crow exercised every day. He was undoubtably a big man and slightly overweight but didnt really strike me in that bad a shape.

I would say stress may have been a factor, as someone else said he was getting hounded by daily fail etc recently whilst on holiday but apparently he has it booked for nearly a year

He booked the holiday 18 months previous. He wound up the mail with his claim he got discount by booking it from an advert in their paper. He wound them up further with his i couldn't give a fuck what the mail thinks attitude, which prompted his quote "what do you expect my to do in my spare time, sit under a tree and read Karl Marx all day?"

Very sad, far too young. Can't say I agreed with all of his views but hell I'd definitely want him to be the leader of a union I was a member of.

 

From my limited experience of union membership it did rather appear that we we're being bent over. Did exactly what a quality union boss should do, fight for his members rather than conducting a race to the bottom that the rest of society seems to be involved with.

Great loss, the RMT (my union) has negotiated an average pay rise of over 3.5% for the last 3 years running. That is not only down to the skill of the area negotiator but also the influence of Bob Crow and the strong policy he implemented.

 

He wiped the floor recently with TforL and their treatment of cleaners, a true Socialist in every sense of the word.

Despite your political persuasions, you can't argue with what he did in his role, spoke it how it was, and as for the mail giving him shit for a decent holiday, they fail to look at the fact the he also said that MP's deserved a pay rise. That's the funny thing, they do. The same way that they attacked Brand for having a few quid. It's textbook stuff; you have to prohibit people who have cash, and therefore power and voice, from using it to support those with less than them.
