I'd sooner someone drink champagne from the proceeds of a lifetime trying to improve the little man's lot, than those amassed trying to destroy it.

Anyone who ever uses the term champagne socialist can go straight in the instant cunt identifiers thread.

There are decent people out there who like to earn good money but also are happy to pay their fair share in taxes and see those worse of than them have their living standards increased too.

One of the aspects of this 'bonus' argument at the moment that rally boils my piss is people will leave the country and work elsewhere. Well fuck them then. They're not the sort of people I want to live with in society.

How much of the extra £2m will they ever actually get to spend? They won't. They'd just rather get more interest to add to their 'worth' knowing they'll never spend it and in all likelihood their kids won't be able to spend it all either.

But they'd rather that than see a fairer society where the elderly, sick and vulnerable are looked after.

Cunts the lot of them.

Great Interview with Paxman.

Imo this country needs a few more people such as Bob Crow.

Loved his quick quip about the dinosaurs, they were around for a long time. I hate the demonization of unions, they are hailed as a bygone era. I must of missed the bit when trust between employers and employees goes without saying and employers don't over work and underpay for as much as they can get away with. The more union power and workers rights diminish the worst pay and standards will get. That doesn't mean striking at the drop of a hat or asking for ridiculous wages there's a sensible approach to both sides. Currently I think power has swung far far too much to the employer, especially with the likes of zero hours which have been totally abused.

Great post mate, echo every word.

My best mates sister in law wrote Mama Mia the musical, don't hold that against him, she's extremely wealthy and sees it as her civic duty to pay her taxes.

She actually pays more in taxes than she would need to as she refuses to 'play the silly games' her accountants tell her to.

She's very comfortable, is able to provide for her children and help out family members financially and will never be able to spend all her money before she goes.

Should she not be able to drive a nice car, go on nice holidays, even drink fucking champagne if she wants to? Does the fact she has earned a she's load if cash mean she has to change her principles. Does it fuck.

And I've far more respect for those that have money and still want a socialist government knowing they'll lose a little or even a lot financially than those cunts who change their beliefs as soon as they make a quid.

It's a shit lazy label and anyone who uses it is a cunt.

There are people in this world, I know a fair few of them, who think to themselves that a man from his background, of his political persuasion, with his accent, isn't or can't be intelligent. Working class folk, who speak like that, can't think in the way a Oxbridge educated person can. They're wrong. That video is a good demonstration of why.

Well then, at the very least, you're going to need to explain how being filthy rich is compatible with the notion that nobody should be filthy rich.

Who said nobody should be rich?

People who are rich should be giving back to the society that made them rich in the same way normal people do,thats the crux of the argument.

I could have sworn the word "socialism" was mentioned.

They do, don't they? How else would society work?

Stronts, you're just going to have to accept that Socialism is a broad church and your narrow definition doesn't cover everything. Being a socialist, or any of the many variants of it, doesn't mean nobody can be rich. That's a bland, reductionist attempt to dismiss it.
